S, A, ACTION SUMMARY CITY COUNCIL MEETING 321 East 5th Street FEBRUARY 19, 2013 SPECIAL MEETING - 5:00 p.m. REGULAR MEETING - 6:00 p.m. The Mayor may determine the order of business for a particular City Council meeting The agenda should be arranged to best serve the needs and/or convenience of the Council and the public Mayor to determine time of break The items of business for regular Council meetings may include the following: A. CALL TO ORDER — SPECIAL MEETING AT 5:00 P.M. -for the purpose of conducting an Executive Session under authority of RCW 42.30.110(1)(i), to discuss potential litigation with legal counsel. — NO ACTION CALL TO ORDER - REGULAR MEETING AT 6:00 P.M. B. ROLL CALL — All members in attendance PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE — led by Councilmember Nelson. CEREMONIAL MATTERS, PROCLAMATIONS & EMPLOYEE RECOGNITIONS 1. Dr. Sandep Kandhwal / Peninsula College - Fulbright Scholar -In- Residence / Introduced by Sophia Iliakis Doherty, Director of International Student & Faculty Services for Peninsula College. C. PUBLIC COMMENT - Peter Ripley spoke regarding suggestions for the Landfill. Jody Moss thanked Council for continued funding for United Way. D. Equipment Purchase: Trucks for Street, Parks, and Light Divisions Moved by DiGuilio, second by Nelson to approve. Motion carried 7 -0 K -1 L. COUNCIL REPORTS — Councilmember Bruch noted the upcoming Cancer Event and a movie shown recently at the Heritage Center. Deputy Mayor Collins reported attending AWC Meetings in Olympia. Mayor Kidd attended the AWC Conference, noted concern in obtaining Public Works Trust Fund loans, and importance of continuing to request our Legislators to include funding in State Budget. Councilmember Downie attended Project Homeless Connect, and is co- chairing the cruise ship committee. Councilmember Mania will be the speaker for the Green Party Regional Conference in Sequim. ADJOURNMENT - Mayor Kidd adjourned the meeting at 7:38 p.m. PUBLIC HEARINGS Public hearings are set by the City Council in order to meet legal requirements In addition, the City Council may set a public hearing in order to receive public input prior to making decisions, which impact the citizens Certain matters may be controversial, and the City Council may choose to seek public opinion through the public hearing process February 19, 2013 Mayor to determine time of break / Hearing devices available for those needing assistance.
