AN ORDINANCE providing for the making, levy and collection
of re- assessments and a re- assessment roll in Local Improvement
District No 64, created under Ordinance No. 616, approved
September 23rd, 1919, to,provid.e a fund sufficient to pay all the
costs and expense of the improvement of the following named streets
in the City of Port Angeles, to -wit: Cherry, Oak and Laurel Streets
from the south line of Eighth Street to the north line of Broadway,
and Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, Twelfth, Thirteenth, Fourteenth and
Fifteenth Streets, and the alleys running between all of said streets,
from the west line of Lincoln Street on the East, and the East Top
or brink of Valley Street Gulch on the West, and from the North line
of Broadway on the South, to the South line of Eighth Street on the
north; and the improvement of the North 25 feet of Broadway from the
center of Laurel Street to the intersection of Broadway and the alley
between Fourteenth and Fifteenths Str_ee.ts, all in accordance with
Resolution No, 64, and plans and specifications adopted by the then
City Council of the City of Port Angeles, and providing for the payment
of said improvement by special assessments upon the property in
said district, payable by "Mode of Payment by Bonds ",
WHEREAS, under Ordinance No, 616, approved September 23rd, 1919,
there was ordered the improvement of the following named streets in
the City of Port Angeles, to -wit: Cherry, Oak and Laurel Streets
from the south line of Eighth Street to the north line of Broadway,
and Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, Twelfth, Thirteenth, Fourteenth and
Fifteenth Streets, and the alleys running between all of said streets,
from the west line of Lincoln Street on the East, and the East Top
or Brink of Valley Street Gulch on the West, and from the North line
of Broadway on the South, to the South line of Eighth Street on the
north; and the improvement of the North 25 feet of Broadway from
the center of Laurel Street to the intersection of Broadway And the
alley between Fourteenth and Fifteenth Streets, all in accordance
with Resolution No, 64, and plans and specifications adopted by the
then City Council of the City of.Port Angeles, and
WHEREAS, the said ordinance provided that all the assessable
property between the termini of said improvement, abutting upon,
adjacent, vieinal or proximate to such portions of said streets and
alleys to a distance back from the marginal lines thereof as pro-
vided by law, should be deemed the property specially benefitted
by said improvement, and that the total cost and expense of said
improvement therein ordered, including all necessary incidental
expenses, should be defrayed by the collection of special assess-
ments upon the property included in said Local Improvement District,
and
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No, 681 the assessments and assessment
roll in and for said district No 64 as then made, levied 9onfirmed
and ordered collected, were spread in the sum of $9 and
WHEREAS, the Engineer's estimate of the cost of said improve-
ment was in the sum- of $67, 015.00, to which if added ten per cent
as by law in such case made and provided, as the probable amount
of the cost of said improvement, as could in the first instance be
made, levied, confirmed and ordered collected, would equal the sum
of $73,716,50, and
WHEREAS, the said assessments and assessment roll, as now made,
levied, confirmed and ordered collected, exceedshe Engineer's

estimate and the said ten per cent in the sum of $ , and
WHEREAS, the said assessments and assessment roll, as now
made, levied, confirmed and ordered collected, appear to be
irregular, and not in conformity with the provisions of law and the
ordinances of the City of Port Angeles in such case made and pro-
vided, and
WHEREAS, it appears that said assessments and assessment roll
as now confirmed were made by mistake, inadvertence, and erroneous
ideas, as to the law in such matters,

NOW THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the City Commission of the
City of Port Angeles:
Section 1. That re- assessments and a re- assessment roll of
Local Improvement District No 64 be made and collected upon all the
property within said district in the manner as by law and the
5dinances of the City of Port Angeles provided, in the sum of

i1, 1,88; said sum being the amount representing all the cost of
said improvement in said district over and above the Engineer's
original estimate of 567,015.00, plus ten per cent thereof, which
under the law is the only amount which could have been legally
and lawfully made, levied, confirmed and ordered collected against
the property within said district in the original assessment roll,
Section 2, That immediately upon the taking effect of this
ordinance the officers charged with the making of said re- aeeess-
nients and re- assessment roll shall immediately proceed to cause
said re- assessments and re- assessment roll to be made, and report
the-same-to this Commission as in such case made and provided by
law and the ordinances of the City of Port Angeles,
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
when it shall have been passed by the City Commission, approved and
signed by the Mayor, attested by the City Clerk, approved by the
City Attorney, and from and after five (5) days from its publication
once in the official newspaper of the City of Port Angeles, and the
Clerk is hereby directed to cause the same to be published,
