ORDINANCE NO. 1037
AN ORDINANCE declaring the practice of going in and upon private res-
idences in the City of Port Angeles, Washington, by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers,;
itinerant merchants and transient vendors of merchandise, not having been re-
quested or invited so to do by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants of said
private residences, for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods,
6 wares and merchandise, and /or for the purpose of disposing of;iandJor peddling
7 or hawking the same, to be a nuisance and punishable as such as a misdemeanor;
8 providing penalties and declaring an emergency making the Ordinance immediately
9 effective.
10 . THE CITY COLt ISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
11 . Section 1. The practice of going in and upon private residences in
12 the City of Port Angeles, Washington, by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant
13 ! merchants and transient vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or
14 invited so to do by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants of said private
15 1 residence, for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares 14
16 and merchandise, and /or for the purpose of disposing of and /or peddling or hawking

17 + the same, is hereby declared to be a nuisance, and punishable as such nuisance as
18 1 a misdemeanor.
19 Section 2. The Police force of the City of Port Angeles is hereby re-
• 20 quired and directed to cooperate with the owners and occupants of private res -
21 idences to suppress the same and to abate any such nuisance as is described in
22 the first section of this Ordinance.
23 Section 3. Any person convicted of perpetrating a nuisance as des-
24 cribed and prohibited in the first section of this Ordinance shell be punished by
• 25 a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars 0100.00) or by imprisonment in the
26 City Jail for a period of not more than thirty days, or by both such fine and
27 imprisonment.
28 Section 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this
29 ordinance are hereby repealed.
. 30 Section 5. This Ordinance is declared to be urgent and necessary for
31
the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the inhabi-

1 tants of said City of Port Angeles, and shall take effect and be in force tam-
2 ediately upon and from and after its passage, approval and lawful publication.

Passed second reading by the City Commission March 24, 1937.
5 Passed third reeding and finally passed and adopted by the City Comm-
6 ission March 31, 1937.
