1 :ai: ORDIPLai?CE relating to the unlawful rearing of the uniform of the United
2 States .smy, i:avy, L:rrine Corps, and Coast Guard; defining offenses, prescribing
3 penalties; and declaring an energency.
4 BE IT aTI:INED BY THE CIT`i OF PORT ANGELES AS FGLL07;S:
5 Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person not an officer or enlisted
6 ' man of the United States z:ay, Davy, ilrine Corps, or Coast Guard, to wear the

7 i uniform thereof, or any distinctive part of such uniform or a uniform any part of
8 t ~hich is similar to a distinctive part of the duly prescribed uniform thereof:
9 : 1rovided, that the foregoing provision shall not be construed to apply to any Der-
10 ; son authorized to rear such uniform by the laws of the United States, and in par-
{
i1 titular Section 125 of the National Defense t.ct as amended (10 U.S.C..,., Section
12 ' 1393).
13 Section 2. Violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be
14 punishable by a fine not exceeding One Hundred Dollars (,100.00), or by imprison-
15 sent in the City Jail not exceeding thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and
16 isprisonruent.
17 Section 3. TIE1U13, protection of the uniform of the creed forces of the
18 ! United States is not specifically provided for by local or state lazy in aid of
19 Federal laws for the protection thereof; and, ":E.:S, Federal authorities have
20 requested the City to enact local, legislation in aid of the prevention of wearing
21 of the uniform by persons not lawfully entitled to wear the same; and, ".r',; t .5,
22 the public safety is endanuered by the unauthorized :searing of such uniform,
23 lthereby creating a situation constituting an emergency, nhich is hereby declared
24 to exist, which is necessary for the i^r.^ediate preservation of the public peace,
25 health and safety that this ordinance become effective without delay; How
26 Therefore,
27 Section 4. This ordinance is declared to be urgent and necessary for the
28 Fimmediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
29 and people of said City of Port Angeles, and shall take effect and be in force
30 immediately upon and from and after its passage, approval and lawful publication.
