HomeMy WebLinkAbout1193ORDINANCE O. 1193 AN ORDINANCE setting forth an emergency affecting the public health and safety; requiring expenditures unforeseen; providing for the issuance of emergency warrants; and declaring an emergency, making the ordinance immediately effective. THE CITY COMEISSION OF THE QTY OF PORT ANGET.H=S DOES ORDAIN AS F'CLLC: Section 1. That because of unforeseen and unexpected additional cost for necessary material, and other increases in expense, which were not and could not have been anticipated at the time of preparing the budget for the Light Fluid, the amount provided in said fund was not sufficient, and the amount required was in excess of the Hinds available to cover expenditures for the year 1947, which are as follows: Light Fund ;6,200.00. Section 2. That the expenditures made in excess of the amount of the budget were for the protection and safety of the inhabitants of the City. Section 3. That by reason of the facts stated, an emergency is hereby declared to exist which will require the issuance of emergency warrants to provide for said expenditures in amounts required, the payment of such warrants to be considered in the preparation and adoption of the budget for the said Light Department. Section 4. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute, sign and deliver emergency warrants upon the Light Fund for the rewired expenditures not to exceed the sum mentioned in Section 1 hereof. Section 5. That because of the facts, the adoption of this ordinance is urgent and necessary for the public peace, health, and safety of the inhabitants of the City, which emergency is declared to esist, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in fi11 force from and after its passage, approval, and lawful publication. Passed first reading by the City Commission January 14, 1948. Passed second reading by the City Commission January 14, 1948. Passed third reading and finally passed and adopted by the City Commission January ;24 1948.
