ORDINANCE NO. 1104
AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 1192 of the City of Port
Angeles, the same being an ordinance fixing monthly salaries,
compensation and wages of officers and employees of the City for
the year 1948, by adding thereto Sections 2A and 2B, defining over-
time work and fixing the pay therefor, and declaring an emergency.
THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGLES DOES ORDA=
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That ordinance No. 1192 of the City of Port
Angeles, adopted by the City Commission on January 14, 1948 be and
the same is hereby amended by adding thereto sections 2A and 2B
reading as follows:
Sec. 2A: Eight hours shall constitute a dayts work and forty
hours shall constitute a week's work for all officers and employees
of the city, and no laborer, workman or mechanic employed upon City
work shall be required or permitted to labor more than eight hours
in any one calendar day, except in case of extra - ordinary emergencies
caused by fire, fraud or danger to life and property. All work in
excess of the hours herein specified shall be defined as "overtime
work ".
Sec. 2B: All laborers, workman and mechanics performing over-
time work as herein defined, shall be paid, in addition to the
regular monthly compensation herein specified, at the following
rate:
Such persons employed in the Light Department shall receive
compensation at the rate of twice that received for regular work.
Such persons employed in the Street Department shall receive
compensation at the rate of one and one -half time that received for
regular work; provided, however, that work performed on Sundays and
holidays in said Department shall be paid for at twice the rate
received for regular work.
{ Section 2. This ordinance is declared to be urgent and
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
' health and safety of the inhabitants and people of said City of
Port Angeles, aid shall take effect and be in force immediately
upon and from and after its passage, approval and lawful publication.
