AN ORDINANCE of the City Council of
the City of Port Angeles limiting
Councilmen to serving two
consecutive four -year terms.
WHEREAS, at the November 5, 1985, election, the
electorate of the City of Port Angeles approved a proposition
limiting Councilmen to serving two consecutive four -year terms;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that such a
limitation on Council terms is in the public interest; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ANGELES as follows:
Section 1. No person shall be allowed to serve on the
City Council for more than two (2) consecutive four -year terms;
provided that this prohibition shall not disqualify any person
now serving on the City Council from completing the term of
office that he or she has been elected to serve as of the
effective date of this ordinance.
Section 2 Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take
effect as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles
at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 17th day of
December, 1985.
