AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles,
Washington, removing the position of Fire Chief
from the classified civil service, revising the
composition of the interview board for certain
civil service promotional examinations, and
amending Ordinance 2410 and Chapter 2.22 of the
Port Angeles Municipal Code.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. Ordinance 2410 and Chapter 2.22 of the Port
Angeles Municipal Code are hereby amended by amending PAMC 2.22.070
to read as follows:
2.22.070 Classified Civil Service. The Classified Civil
Service and provisions of this Chapter shall include all regular,
full -paid, sworn safety employees of the Police and Fire Depart-
ments of the City of Port Angeles, including the Police Chiefs of
sa4A-T-EH.F.4nilits but excluding the Fire Chief. All appointments to
and promotions in said Departments shall be made solely on merit,
efficiency and fitness, which shall be ascertained by competitive
examination (open or promotional) and impartial investigation. No
person shall be reinstated in or transferred, suspended or dis-
charged from any such place, position or employment contrary to the
provisions of this Chapter.
Section 2. Ordinance 2410 and Chapter 2.22 of the Port
Angeles Municipal Code are hereby amended by amending PAMC 2.22.060
to read as follows:
2.22.060 Interview Board. The Interview Board shall be
composed of three (3) persons. One member shall be the Chief
Examiner or his /her designee. The Chief Examiner shall appoint the
other two members subjcct to confirmation by the City Council. One
member shall be a lay person who shall be a citizen of Port
Angeles. One member shall be a uniformed professional with exper-
ience and expertise with respect to the particular position for
which the interviews are being conducted; PROVIDED that such
uniformed professional member shall not be an employee of the City
of Port Angeles.
For promotional examinations for Fire Captain and Medical
Officer, the Interview Board shall be two uniformed professionals
and a mid - manager from within the City of Port Angeles. The Chief
Examiner will administer the examination process but will not be a
rater in the interviews.
Section 3 - Severability. If any provisions of this
Ordinance, or its application to any person or circumstances, is
held invalid, the remainder of the Ordinance, or application of the
provisions of the Ordinance to other persons or circumstances, is
not affected.
Section 4 - Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take
effect five days after publication.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles at
a regular meeting of said Council held on the 6th day of Sept. ,
1994.

Ordinance No. 2836
This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles restricts the use of fireworks in the Hollywood Beach
area and amends Chapter 8 of Ordinance 2050, as amended, and Chapter 5.32 of the Port Angeles
Municipal Code.
The full texts of the Ordinances are available at City Hall in the City Clerk's office or will be mailed upon request.
Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
These Ordinances shall take effect five days after the date of publication of these summaries.
