AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles,
Washington, providing for the destruction,
retention, auction, sale or trade of forfeited
firearms and amending Ordinance 2447 as amended
and Chapter 9.42 of the Port Angeles Municipal
Code.
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature has amended state
law provisions relating to the forfeiture of firearms; and
WHEREAS, the amendment to state law provisions allows
cities to dispose of forfeited firearms in any manner determined by
the city's legislative authority; and
WHEREAS, cities are specifically authorized to adopt
legislation providing for the retention, trade, auction or
arrangement of the auction of firearms acquired by them after June
30, 1993; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. Ordinance 2447 as amended and Chapter 9.42 of
the Port Angeles Municipal Code are hereby amended by adding a new
section to read as follows:
9.42.050 Destruction, Trade or Sale of Forfeited Firearms.
A. Firearms that are (i) judicially forfeited and no
longer needed for evidence, or (ii) forfeited due to a failure to
make a claim under RCW 63.32.010 or 63.40.010, may be disposed of
by the City of Port Angeles.
B. The City of Port Angeles may destroy, retain, trade,
auction or arrange for an auction of forfeited firearms obtained on
or after June 30, 1993, by following the procedures set forth in
RCW 9.41.098.
C. The City of Port Angeles may retain the proceeds of
any trade or auction of forfeited firearms.
Section 2 - Severability. If any provisions of this
Ordinance, or its application to any person or circumstances, is
held invalid, the remainder of the Ordinance, or application of the
provisions of the Ordinance to other persons or circumstances, is
not affected.
Section 3 - Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take
effect five days after the date of publication.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles at
a regular meeting of said Council held on the 19th day of November
1996.

Ordinance No. 2936
This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles provides for the destruction, retention,
auction, sale or trade of forfeited firearms and amends Ordinance No. 2447, as
amended, and Chapter 9.42 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code. This Ordinance
shall take effect five days after the date of publication of this summary.
Ordinance No. 2937
This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles adopts the Washington Model Traffic
Ordinance (MTO) as contained in the Washington Administrative Code, Ch. 308-
330 WAC, to regular traffic in the City of Port Angeles and amends Chapter
10.04 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code by repealing Ordinance No. 2443 and
Ordinance No. 2133. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after January 1,
1997.
