Roll Call of Officers showed the following present: Mayor Epperson, Commissioner Johnson and Steele, Attorney Wilson and Clerk Law. The Minutes of the previous session were read and approved. Under the head of applications for building permits and licenses, the following were granted: Dorothy Simons Add bedroom to dwelling, Lot 15, Blk 551, Townsite :$ 600.00 I Sig Larson Repair store building, Lots 25-26, Blk 124, D. W. Morse /Add. 2000.00 Remodel dwelling and build garage, Lot 19, Blk 106, Townsite 800.00 M. L. Motorcycle Service Journeyman Plumbers 2.50 1.25 I ,Under the head of Unfinished Business, the bids for furnishing gas to the City Departments was again dis- 'cussed. It appeared that the General Petroleum Corporation was the only company to meet the bid by Rieh- l; field Oil Corporation for premium gas. at 0.147, and Shell Oil Company for non-premium gas at 0.152. It was. I!moved by Commiseioner Johnson that the oontract be awarded to General Petroleum Corp. and Riohfield Oil ~ Corp. for premium gas and General Petroleum Corp. and Shell Oil Company for non-premium gas. II residents of the district and immediate action would be taken. , Guy Bellinger, residing at 4th & Valley Streets, spoke before the Commission in regard to the deplorable jCOndition of the street and asked the Commission to consider cutting down 4th Street, thereby making anothe:r outlet. Mayor Epperson agreed to an immediate investigation and due consideration. . Mr. McMillan, conducting a P.D.Q. Motorcylce delivery service, appeared before the Commission requesting ! protection and exclueive franchise. After discussion the Corrmission decided a monopoly could not be given but they would be fair and cooperate in every respect. I w. l!;. Johnson inquired as to the transfer of lease on Ediz Hook property from Chas. Dolson to himself and was advised by Engineer Dodge toot transfer lease would OOve to be drawn and presented to Commission. The matter, wae held over to next Wednesday. 'James F. Lewis recommended the city install fixtures and improve conditions at police court. Also sugges- ted the installation of an esculator at First &. Laurel Streets. Mayor Epperson informed toot plans were laid for changee and improvements of the Commissioners Rooms. I' ; John Coneis requested permission to remove dirt from alley adjoining his property on east First Street. ,It was moved by Commissioner Steele that when Mr. Goneis gave sufficient bond to protect the City against lany damage suits, he be permitted to continue excavation, subject to approval of City Engineer; seconded by Mayor Epperson. On roll call, all voted Aye. The Mayor declared the motion carried. The petitions of Phillip C. Rains and others regarding grading of Caroline Street, John Pavan and others , I regarding grading of "A" Street from 8th to 10th Streets, Ted Brown and others regarding improvements of I 16th Street between Pine and Cedar Streets, were approved, filed and referred to the Commissioner of Public Warns. . Light Superintendent Lean recommended toot petitions for street lights at 9th and "A" and lOth and "A" Streets be considered after etreet improvement concluded. I Officials Bonds approved by the Commission were as follows: JI.adge H. Nailor, United States Fidelity & Guaranty Co.; B. W. Lean, J. E. Law, E. M. Stahl, W. P. O'Day, R. l>. Pike, H. E. Dodge, R. O. Ide, C. A. Wolverton, all by the New Amsterdam Casualty Com- pany. The Library Board requested a call for bids for the sale of used electrical fixtures, filing cabinet, six pictures and one office chair. I'The Commission instructed the City Clerk to call for bids for one new full deisel tractor caterpillar D4, mounted with T4 Traxcavator and Hyster D4 Tractor donkey, or equal. Bids are to be opened February 6, 1946, at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Rooms. The transfer of license from S. A. Taylor of Port Angeles Distributing Company to Richard Brittain was approved and signed by the Mayor.
