Under the head of Introduction of Resolutions the following resolution was introduced.
RESOLVED, that we respectfully urge the legislature to enact House Bill No. 138,
House Bill No. 139, and House Bill no. 175, or to embody the substanoe in other bills
that'">may be passed.
House Bill No. 138 would give counties, eities and towns 25% of the sales tax;
House Bill No. 139 would give to cities and towns 20% of the net revenue, after certain
deduotions of the State Motor vehicle fund, to be expended on streets, - would simplify
the aecounting and reporting on the expenditure of the funds; and would also require
the State director of Highways to construct and maintain primary hi'!;hways through
cities with State funds; House Bill no. 175 would require the State liquor control
board to make not less than 25% net profit and would divide the net profits between
the State on one hand and the cities and counties on the other, on a 50-50 basis. This
was the division originally provided in the law and until changed by the 1935 legislature.
These measures, if enacted into law, will give eities, towns and eounties much
needed revenues; also enable them to wipe out defioits and perform neoessary funotions
of governmen t.
RESOLVED, further, that a copy of this resolution be sent to each Senator and
Representative in the Legisla~ure from this district.
It was moved by Commissioner Henson that the foregoing resolution be adopted. Seconded
by Mayor Davis. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared the motion
