The City.Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Officers present were Mayor Willson, Council
men Maxfleld, Thorne, Cornell, Wolfe, Bettger, Schroeder, Manager Herrman, Attorney Moffett and
Acting Clerk Thompson.
A motion was made by Councilman Thorne, seconded by Councilman Bettger and carried that the minute
of February 2, 1967 be accepted and placed on file.
A motion was made by Councilman Thorne, seconded by Councilman Bettger and carried, that the amOun
of $7,522.68 due CH2M for engineering services from December 24, 1955 through January 24, 1967 in ["
connection with the Sanitary Sewerage System Improvements be approved and paid. ,
A motion was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Schroeder and carried, that the
amount of $721.24 due CH2M for engineering services from December 24, 1966 through January 24, 196"
in connection with the Booster Pump Station be approved and paid. I
A motion was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Thorne and carried to approve for paV-
ment claims in the amount of $25,556.61 and payroll transfers in the amount of $40,757.80. !
The following ordinance was introduced and read in full:
ORDINANCE NO. 1601
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles providing for the con-
demnation of real property.
A motion was made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Wolfe and carried, that the fore-
going ordinance be adopted as read. Counci]~an Bettger abstained from voting.
The following Ordinance was introduced and read in full:
ORDINANCE NO. 1602
AN ORDINANCE prescribing the steps to be taken by a motorist
upon leaving an automobile unattended, including removal
of the ignition key from the vehicle, authorizing the po-
lice to remove ignition keys left in unattended vehicles,
and imposing a penalty.
A motion was made by Councilman Bettger, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried that the fore~
going Ordinance be adopted as read.
A motion was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Schroeder and carried, to approve
the request for variance of a 15' setback by Russell S. Hesselman, L 17:,1'; 18, Blk 145, N. side of
4th Street, between L ~ M Streets, as recommended by the Planning Commission.
, A motion was made by Councilman Bettger, seconded by Councilman Thorne and carried to concur with
! the Planning Co~~issions reco~~endation and approve the request [or variance to construct a car-
port by Robert E. Wilkins, 706 South A Street.
A motion was made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Thorne and carried to refer back
to the Planning Commission for further study, consideration and clarification of the limitations
of the variance to operate a real estate office at 415 South Race as requested by Gerald Staudenrows.
A motion was made by Councilman Bettger, seconded by Councilman Wolfe, and carried to accept and
place on file the Planning Commission minutes of February 7, 1967.

Under other business, a motion was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and
carried, endorsing the Mayor's prpclamation of February 19-26 as Brotherhood Week; CounciL~an
Bettger appointed by Mayor as Chairman of the Prayer Breakfast Co~~ittee; Informed Frank J. Wil-
kerson and John G. Bolewicki to present their request in writing for permission to hold Sunday
teenage dances at the next Council meeting.
The following resolution was read in full:

A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Port Angeles
authori~ing the use of the reserve account arising from match-
ing contributions of the City to the Statewide City Employees
Retirement System.
A motion was made by Councilman Cornell, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, that the fore I -
