The Commission met in Regular session at 10 a.m.and vras called to order by Hayor IlaviS!.
Roll call showed the follo~ing officers present.l1ayor Davis,Commissioners Lutz and llaster~
Attorney 'Plummer ,and Clerk Hawkins.
The minutes of the previous, session were read and approved.
Applications for permits and licenses were granted as follo,-/s ,-

Under the head of communications and petitions the following petition signed by
Esther Johnson and others,was read,petitioning the City Commission to include in the
Cival ~orks Administration program the reopening of a road running TIest from the Cemeter
Road to the City limits,parallellitng the Railroad as near as_lines will permit. The said
road to connect with a similar County road terminating at the crossing of the Lower Elwha
Road and the Railroad.
The matter was referred to the Commissioner of streets and City Engineer.
Under the head of Reading and Passage of Ordinances the following ordinances were read
by title and placerr on their Third readings,-
AN O~DINANCE Creating a City Planning. Commission and designating the duties of the
Commission; and Declaring an Emergency;
,ffiEREAS, the Federal Government,through its various departments, has recommended that
municipal corporations create planning commissions designed to cooperate with and
reconcile the work of the district,regional, state and federal planning commissions for
the purpose of municipal and civic improvements and betterment and the efficient use of
labor under the Civil TIorks Administration.
It was moved by Mayor Davis that the foregoing ordinance be placed on its final readin
and adopted. Seconded by Commissioner Lutz. On roll call all members voted aye. The
lIayor declared the motion carried.
AN ORDI',ANCE vacating certain portions of an alley in the City of Port Angeles
desoribed as follows, to wit;
The ,portion of the alley between First and Second Streets ,Peabody and Vine Streets;
which abuts'on Lots One (1) to Six (6) ,inol. ,and Thirteen (13) to Eighteen (18), incl.,
of Block Twenty-eight (28), Norman R.Smith's Subdivision of the TODnsite of Port Angeles.
It ,was moved by Mayor Davis that the foregoing ordinance be placed on its final reading
and be adipted. Seconded by Commissioner Masters. On roll call all members voted aye.
The Mayor declared the motion carried.
The Commission examined the following claims and'ordered warrants drawn for same,-
