IThe COll'Jl\ission met in regular session at 10 A.if.. and was called to order by ActiIjg Mayor Steele. Roll call
revealed the following officers present: ActiIjg Mayor Steele, Col1lBissioner Johnson, Attorney Wilson and
Clerk Law.
The minutes of the previous session were read and approved.
Under the head of new business, Attorney Wilson made a report regarding his
meeting with the State Tax Commission. The City Water. Dept. had been charged
$9,952.99 utility Tax for in:lustrial water sales. By final decision the City I
must pay $7,089.95, whioh will pay in full to date the State Utility Tax for the f
years 1943-1944-1945-1946. It was understood that Rayorier, Inc., will re-imburse
the City for this amount except $9.95, which is the City's share without penalty. I
Police Chief Ide informed the Commission that the speed limit on East First Street.
is set by Ordinance at 35 k:.P.H. from Race Street East to City limits. By War I
Emergency Resolution, this regulation was changed to 25 ...P.Ii. It was decided
still in effect, and the 35 LP.H. limit should be observed. This would also apply
from Washineton Pulp East to Coast Guard entrance.
Under the head of applications for building parmits, the folloYling were granted:
