The Commission met in regular session at 10:00 A .1.1. and was' called to order by Mayor Beetle. Roll call
showed the folowing officers; present: Mayor Beetle, CoJ:ll1lissioners Beam and Lind, Attornay Conniff aOO
Clerk Hawkins.
Under the head of applications for Building rermits and Licenses the following were granted:
L. Hulse, Build House, Sub.1rban Lot 180, Townsite .
Mrs. Guy Me Elravy, Build Garage, Lot 14, Block 259, townsite
Harbor Tavern, 2 Card Tables

Under the head of Introduction of Resolutions the following resolution was introduced:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The City of Port Angeles is the owner of the following described real property, having acquired
the same b.r Treasurer's deed dated April 9, 1940, under and by virtue of the authority of Section 9393 of
Remington's Revised Statutes, Chapter 143 of the. Laws of 1929, page 365, to-wit:
Lot Seven (7), Block Two Hundred Forty-seven (247), Townsite of Port iMgeles,
Clallam County, Washington, and
WHEREAS, Ada Buchanan has offered to purchase from the City of Port Angeles the above described real
property for the sum of $75.00, payable as follows: $20.00 as a down payment and $5.00 on or before the
8th of July, 1940, and $5.00 on or before the 8th day of each and every month thereafter until said
$75.00 has been paid in full, together with interest at the rate of 7% per annum to be computed on
monthly balances due and paid with the monthly installment, and
I WHEREAS, The City Commission has viewed the said property and is of the opinion that the offer is fair
value and that at this time it is the best interest of the City that it should be accepted and the sale
made.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said offer be accepted and that the City of Port Angeles sell the
said property at private sale to the said Ada Buchanan for the sum hereinabove set forth, subject to any
other valid liens against the same; that the City Attorna,y be instructed to prepare a quit claim deed
conveying said property to the purchaser, and that the City Clerk of the City of Port Angeles be and he is
hereby instructed to execute said quit claim deed, and that the Mayor of the City of Port Angeles be and
he is hereby instructed to countersign the said quit claim deed when the purchase price and all accrued
interest thereon has been paid in full.
It was moved by Commissioner Beam that the foregoing resolution be approved and adopted. Seconded by
Commissioner LiOO. On roll call all members voted aye. The M"ll'or declared the motion carried.
Under the head of Reading of Communications, a petition signed b.r Kenneth E. Schmidt and othera protesting
against the construction of a chicken house b.r Pete Psomas on Lot 7, Block 523, Townsite, was read and
ordered filed.
Under the head of Introduction of Ordinances the following ordinance was introcluced, read in full and
placed on its first and second readings:
AN ORDINANCE setting forth an emergency affecting the public health and safety; requiring expenditures
unforeseen; providing for the issuance of emergency warrants; and declaring an emergency making the
ordinance immediately effective.
Under the head of Reports from City Officers the following was read:

I herewith submit the second monthly estimate (MarCh) of work done and material furnished by
Caven Plumbing Company on the City Playfield plumbing contract.

It was moved by Commissioner Lind that the foregoing Engineer's mojthly estimate of wod< done and material I
furn1bsed by James W. Caven, Contractor, by approved and the City Clerk be instructed to issue warrants I
to the said James W. Caven in the sum of $735.30, the amount due him as shown in the scid estimate.
Seconded b.r Commissioner Beam. On roll call all members voted aye. .rhe Mayor declared the motion I
carried.
The Commis sion examined and allowed the following claims and ordered warrants drawn for same:
