Roll call showed the follD1l'1ng officers present: Mayor kobinson, Commissioners Bean and Mllsters and Atwrney Johnston. The minutes of the last session wers read and approved. Uader the head of Applications for BUilding Permits the follo1l'1ng were gronted: Roea Gallacci, Remodel house, Lot 17, Block 542, Townsite Andrew B. Sunde, Remodel house, Lot 2, Block 107, Baker's Subd. Wm. Gorsegner, Construct sidewalk, Lot 8, Block ~, Tidelands East of Laurel H. H. Van Brocklin, Move house and add bedroom, Lot 10, Block 51, l'ownsite Willard Pearson, BUild Garage, Lot 10, Block 224, Townsite Under the head of Introduction of Resolutions the following resolutions were introduced: 200.00 200.00 200.00 200.00 200.W RESOLUTIGN WHEREAS, a.r that certain resolution dated March 22, 1944, and recorded in Volume ~O, page 619, of Com- missioners Proceedings, the City Commissl.on authorized the sale of Lot 15, Block ~77, fownsite of Port Angele 5, to H. "'. Powless and Harriet A. Powless, husband 8nd wife, and WHEREAS, the said H. ~. Powless was killed in an accident shortly after the adoption of the said.resolu- tion and that his wife, Harriet A. Powless, desires to carryon and purchase said property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the said resolution above referred to, be and said resolution is hereby rescinded, and the City Clerk is hereby instructed to prepare a resolution authorizing the s.le direct to Harriet A. Powless. It was moved by Commissioner Beam that the foregoing resolution be approved and adopted. Seconded by Commissioner Masters. On roll call all members voted aye. The Maytlr declared the motion carried. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The City of Port Angeles is the owner of t.he following described real property, having acquired the same by Treasurer's deed dated March 21, 1944, under and by virtue of the authority of Section 9593 of Remington's Revised Statutes, Chapter 145 of the Laws of 1929, page 565, to-wit: Lot Xhirteen (15), Block Two Hundrsd Seventy-eeven (277), townsite of Port Angeles, Washington, and WHEREAS, Harriet A. Powless has offered to purchase from the City of Port Angeles the above described real property for the sum sf $150.00, payable as follows: 115.00 as a down payment and $10.00 on or before the ~4th day of April, 1944, and tlO.OO on or before the ~4th day of each and every month thereafter until paid in full, together with interest at the rate of 7% per amum on monthly balances and paid 1I'1th the monthly inst8llment, and WHEREAS, the City Combsion has viewed the said property and is of the opinion that the offer is fair value and is in excess of the amount psid by the City for said property, plus all L.I.D. assessments, including interest and other charges against the same. Nmv, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the said offer be accepted and that the City of Port Angeles sell the said property at private sale to the said Harriet A. Powless for the sum hereinabove set forth, subject to any vdid liens against the same; that the City Attorney be instructed to prep~re a quit claim deed con- veying said property to the purchaser, and that the City Clerk of the City of Port Angeles be, and he is hereby instructed to execute said quit claim deed, and that the Mayor of the City of Port Angeles be, and he is hereb1 instructed to countersign said quit claim deed wben the purchase price and all accrued interest thereon has been paid in full. It was moved by CoJbissioner Beam that the foregoing resolution be approved and adopted. Seconded by ColllIliesioner !.lasters. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared the motion carried. Under the head of New Business: The following letter from the Kiwanis Club was read: April 6, 1944 City Corunissioners City of Port Angeles, W.ashington A tt: lIaytlr Verne Ho binson Dear Sir: In en attempt to control Juvenile delinquenqy in Pert Angeles, a program to provide more recreational facilities for the children in the City has been set up, witb the Schools, Park Board, and Civic Organiza- tions participating. The Kinni. Club plan to create four or five paJyfields, in different parts of the city, located on vacant property in areas which have no playfields at present . There wouJrl be no permanent equipment erected under this plan, except Swings, Teeters, Basketball Goals, etc., all of which could be removed on twenty-four hours notice, without damage to the property. The City owne Lots ~-5-4, in Block 236, Townsite of Port Angeles on which we wisb to locate a neighnorhood plll7f1eld, since there are no playfield faoilities nearer than the Pine Hill playfield, located at Fourteenth and Pine. It is underatood of courae that the property wUl be vacated immediately upon demand, or notice from ytlu. We have already secured permission from the owners of two of the selected areas, and trust that you 11'111 give us permission to make use of the property described above to help ua in what we consider a worth wbile I program. Seconded by Ilayor Robinson. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared the motion carried.
