The City Council met in regular session at 7:30 P.l!. and was called to order by Mayor Smith. Roll call 1
of officers showed the following present: Mayor Smith, Councilmen Brown, Neer, Sandison, Powell, Wolfe, and
McFadden, Manager Vergeer, Attorney'Sevel,'y$ and Clerk Law. :1

,No. 167 Fund, bearing interest at the rate of 3 3/4% per annum and dated April 25, 1955, to aupp~ the
necessary funds to be deposited in the L.I.D.' No. 167 Construction Fund. Motion seconded by Councilman

,The Council considered a lease, option agreement between the City and U. S. Al"II\Y Engineers for 25 acres in
the Morse Creek Watershed. Agreement provides that the City ~eceive IISOO,OO.for land, $350.00 for initial

Will.no longer have use for the property, it will revert back to the City. Motion seconded by Councilman

Pursuant to reCluest from the Library Board, the' Mayor appointed Councilmen Brown, Powell ani Wolfe to meet I
with the Board Monds,v evening.

Claims paid March 25, April 7, ani 20 were approved in total amount of $12,165.66. It was moved by CouncilJ
man McFadden that claiJDs be approved as paid. Seconded by Councilman Sandison and carried.

Joe Janish reCluested the Council to vacate a portion of 1st Street east of Penn in an area, known as Home
,addition. After due consideration, Manager Vergeer recommenged that the re!l,uest be approved. It was .
I moved by Councilman Neer that recommllndation be accepted with proper procedure flllll the req.uested vacation,
subject to rights-of-way for utilities. Motion seconded by Councilman McFadden and carried.

Manager Vergeer read minutes of the Planning Commission wherein the group reoommended that the City SCCluire
the Milwaukee right-of-Way for access road. Mr. Vergeer advised that application is pending for a porti.on
of the right-of-way since notice of abandonment.
The monthly budget reports of City Departments, also City Treasurer's report for MarCh, Were filed for
approval. It was moved by Councilman Brown, Seconded by Councilman.,~rolfe, that budget reports be accepted
and filed. .Motion carried. It was mOved by Councilman Bro\iI\ that Treasurer's financial report for March
b,e approved and filed. Seconied by Councilman Sandison and carried.

Mayor Smith reported on inspection by General Stevens with other local officials for location of Armory
site. .It is understood that the Fairground" can be used until building is completed, if and when {l
National Guard unit is organized.. The Ma,vor also read a letter from Governor Langlie requesting that
delegates be sent to OlJ'mpia to assist in organizing program for the benefit of Senior Citizens. Also
'expressed appreciatiol1 to all who wroked on Coast Guard committee and reported a succesfjful Ground.

It was moved by Councilman PoWell that the City Manager be COllllllilllded on assembling satisfactory and
attractive annual report for year 1954. Motion seconded by Councilman lrTolle and carried;
Councilman Brown reported inconvenience caused rr.r lack of pr~per drainage at 1st and Laurel Streets,
thereby causing storm water to accumulate. Also discussed was parking in drive-way at OlJ'mpic State Bank.
The Police Chief was, instructed to enforce toe no' parking regulation. .
