IThe Commission met in regular session at 10:00 A.M., and was called to order by Mayor :Feeley. Officers
,present were: Mayor Feeley, Commissioners Robinson and Taylor, Attorney Trum!:ull and Clerk Law.

iEmployees in the Postal Service filed a petition regarding parking and parking meters on Oak Street South
1',:Of First Street, requesting that no parking meters be installed, or if so. suitable off street parking be
provided. It was regularly moved and seconded that the petition be filed with further consideration of
(oo.uest.
IFire Chief Wolverton reported on condition of a house at Eighth and Race Streets, and will contact the
owner. It was the Chief's opinion tt.at the house will be declared a fire hazard and condemned.
fCommissioner Taylor reported contacting. Ed Gakin regarding fire hazard and unsightly material and informed
that the mess is now cleaned up. Commisaioner Taylor, Mr. Dodge, and Ed York inspected timber in logging
loperations as autmrized, and it was recommended by Mr. Taylor that lines be established, the City obtain
service of cruiser, and that logs be removed to the line, but not from City propert;;- at present time.

ISequim Prairie Grange No. 1108 expressed appreciation to the Commission for co-operation rendered in
iestablishment of standard time in Clallam County. The letter was ordered permanently filed. A petition
lwith sixty-four signatures requesting that the Commission keep the City on standard time was also ordered
i filed .
l'Under the head of new mainesa Mr. Halstead filed claim for damages to oil burner caused by sewer being o~t
,of order. The claim was referred to the City Attorney. -

The Park Board filed a proposed schedule of rates to be charged for the Civic Field. Also requested that
the Cpmrnission cancel charges for light used by the Clallam County Industrial League and Olympic Peninsula
Athletic Assooiation. It was moved by Commissioner Taylor that the Com!llission approve recommendations and
cancel unpaid charges for electricity used, if cancellation is permitted by statutes governing. Motion
seconEled.. by ,Commissioner Robinson. All voted Aye. Uotion carried.
ILl's. Yaple appeared regarding condition of Ediz Hook road and repair of the same. Commissioner Taylor
informed that industries hav~ signified willingness to co-operate and repair should start by next week.
Commissioner Taylor reported regarding caved in bulkhead on East Front Street, suggesting ti~t property
owners be notified to construct retaining wall and sidewalk, and if possible, to force property owners to
make the said improvements. The Engineer was instructed to consult further with the Attorney regarding
the same.
Under the head of reading and passage of Ordinances, the following was placed on third and final reading:
ORDINANCE NO. 1224
AN ORDINANCE stating the facts of an emergency affecting the public peace, safety and welfare of the City
of Port Angeles; requiring the unforeseen expenditure of funds; providing for the issuance of emergency
warrants and declaring an emergency.
It was moved by Mayor Feeley that the foregoing Ordinance be passed third and final reading and adoptad.
Seconded by Commissioner Taylor. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
.Under the head of introduction and reading of Ordinances, the following was placed on first. and second
reading :

AN ORDINANCE relating to weeds, vegetable and horticultural growths upon private property obstructing
streets, sidewalks and sidm<alk areas, and creating a menace to public health, safety and welfars, providing
for the compelling of the removal thereof by property oVlners, the removal thereof by the City of Port Angela's
at the expense of propel'ty owners, providing for the declaration of nuisances, providing for the enforcement"
of this ordinance and fixing penalties. I
It was moved by Commissioner Taylor that the foregoing Urdinance be passed first and second reading, Motion
seconded by Commissioner Robinson. All voted Aye. Motion carried. I

Fire 6hief Wolverton requested that bids be published for 150' of 1" hose, 500' of Iln hose, and 1,000' of I
2~" 'hose, for his department. It was moved by Mayor Feeley that the bids be published as requested, and
.opened May 8th. Motion seconded by Commissioner Taylor. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
Under the head of introduction of resolutions the following was intvoduced:
RESOLUT ION
WHEREAS, a petition has been filed with the City Comwission of the City of Port Angeles by J. R. Wray,
requesting the vacation of a certain l'ortion of B Street, North of the alley between Fourth and Fifth
Streets, and being between Lot One (1), Blook One Hundred Six (106), and Lot Ten (10), Block One Hundred
Two {102), Townsite of Port Ange les; and
i'I'IHEREAS, J. R. Wray is the owner of all of the a!:utting property; and
YillliliEAS, a time and place should be fixed and a hearing had upon said petition and notice thereof given in
the manner provided by law;

day' of May, 1950, at the hour of ten o'clock A.M., at the regular meeting of the Commiasion of said City on

fixed as the date, time, and place of the hearing of said petition, and the City Clerk of said City is
hereu,y directed to give notice of said hearing qy posting written or printed notices thereof in three of
the most public places in said City and a like notice in a conspicuous place on the street sought to be
~Qated, which notice shall be in the form and manner and posted as provided by law.
It was moved by Commissioner Robinson that the foregoing resolution be approved and adopted. Seconded by
C.ommissicner Taylor. All voted Aye. Motion carried.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 10th day of April, 1950, a petition was filed with the City Commission of
the City of Port Angeles, Washington, to vacate the following described portion of B Street, to-wit: I
That portion of B Street, North of the alley between Fourth and Fifth'Streets, and being between ,
Lot One (1), Block One Hundred Six (106), and Lot Ten (10), Block One Hundred Two (102), Townsite I
of Port Angeles. I
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that on the 24th day of April, 1950, the City Commission of the City of Port Angeles
duly adopted a Resolution directing that a hearing on said petition to vacate said portion of B Street be I
held in the City Commissioners Room in the Police Department Building in Port Angeles, Washington, on I
llonday, the 15th day of May, 19SC, at the hour of ten o'clock A.M.

original notice of hearing of petition to vacate a certain portion of a street as described in the notice
of hearing hereto attached.;
One copy was posted at the front door of the Court House in Glallam County, Washington; One at the front
door of the City Building at 140 West Front Street, Port Angeles; One in a conspicuous place on certain
portion of the street which is sought to be vaoated in the petition in the above entitled matter.
