II The Commission met in regular session and was called to order at 10 A.M. by Y.ayor Epperson. Roll call
revealed the fol1ovring officers present: Ilayor Epperson, Commissione rs Johnson and Steela, Attorney

Under the head of unfinished business, the one bid for Fordson tractor was
opened. The bid was submitted by Honor B. Stepp for $52.50. It VIaS moved by
Commissioner Johneon that the bid should not be accepted. Seconded by l!ayor
Epperson. All members voted Aye. ltotion carried.
The bond by the United States !,'ideli ty and Guaranty Company, supporting the
contrect of Port Construction Company for repLecement of Tumwater trestle vms
approved by the Commission.
Under the head of new business, the Commission requested bids for City printing
for the year July 1, 1946 to June 30, 1947.
Bids "ere also requested for furnishing to the Street Dept. 4,000 Cu. Yards of
I:ineral Aggregate Gover Stone in Stockpile, and 1,500 .Cu. Yards of Mineral
Aggregate Seal Rock in Stockpile. The date of June 5th was set for the opening
of the bids.

The Commission also requested bids be published for filing equipment and supplies'
for the garbage department. Bids to be opened June 1<, 1946.

G. Horstmas, chairman of the planning Commission, 'i'/aS read before t
regarding installation of certain monuments, and opening Fifth f
and Eunice Streets. Corrunissioner Johnson agreed to reply to reque.sts.

The report of Police Judge Taylor for April was eJG3mined and ordered filed. I
Walter H. DuWane appeared before the Cormr.ission requesting information regarding I.
blanket license to cover Arcade amusement club. The Commission decided to ,
investigate and make decision at later date.

Sid Tozier spoke before the Commission and requested their support for motor bus I
service to Bremerton, Shelton, and Olympia. The Commission pledged full support,.
and 'l'd.ll attend hearing at 01ympi8, liay 27th, if possible. I

Harry LaGear appealed to the Commission to consider repLe cing .Iest Third Street I
trestle vri th fill for permanent roadwey to follow foot of hill near railroad from
east end of trestle to TIest line of Fibreboard property. The Commission agreed :
to investigate and consult Port Commission.
A petition bearing numerous signatures from Pine Hill and vicinity, protesting
the use of Pine Hill playground Ow carnivals, was discussed and ordered filed.

Street at Vine
Roy Pike, Supt. of Garbage Dept. and the Commissioners discussed the increasing
of rates and compared charges in other cities. It was moved by Commissioner
Steele that the City Attorney draw an ordinance to take effect July 1st making
flat charge of 75~ for residential garbage collections. Seconded by Mayor
Epperson. All voted Aye; Motion carried.
Under the head of introduction of resolutions, the following were introduced:
RESOLUTION FOR TRANSFER OF IT~!.S WITHIN FUNDS
WHERE:AS, the amounts provided for other items wi thin the same legal classification vrill not be needed, and
portions of the said sums can be transferred within the same legal classification, and
VlHEREAS, it appears that requirements of certain departments for the year 1946,
made necessary the expenditures of s urns of money greater than contemplated, and
WHERE:AS, those requirements could not have been reasonably foreseen at the time of preparation of the h:ldget.:
