The Commission met in regular session at 10 A.M. and was called to order by Mayor Davis. Holl call showed
the follcwing officers present: M~or Davis, Commissioners Henson and Masters, Attorney Conniff and
Clerk Hawkins.
The minutes of the previous. session were read and approved.
Under the head of Applications for Buil<ljilg Permits and Licenses the following were granted:
C. W. Alexander, Construct Residence, . tot 6, Block 291, Townsite
Sig Larson, Remodel Building, Lot 1, Blk. 1, tideland East
John Driscoll, Construct Home, Tax Lot 673 in Suburban Lot 10, Townsite
John C. Vogt, Peddler's License for 1 day

Under the head of Introduction of Resolutions the following Resolution was introduced:
RESOWTION
WHEREAS, The City of Port Angeles is the owner of the following described real property, having acquired
the same 'r1:! Treasurer's Deed, dated October 26, 1938, under and 'r1:! virtue of the authority of Section
9593 of Remington's Revised Statutes, Chapter 145 of the Laws of 1929, page 365, to-wit:
The North 50 feet of Lots Nineteen (19) and Twenty (20), Block One Hurdred
Twenty-one (121), 'ownsite of Port Angeles, Washington, and
WHEREAS, J. H. Wright has offered to pI1rchase from the ~ity of Port Angeles the above described real
property for the sum of $175.00, payable as follows: $20.00 as down payment and the balance of $155.00,
payable $5.00 on or before the 1st day of July, 1959, and $5.00 on or before the 1st day of each and
every month thereafter until paid in full. Interest at the rate of 7% per annum to be compl1ted monthly
on the balance due and paid with the monthly installment, and
WHEREAS, The City Commission has viewed the said property and is of the opinion that the offer is fair
value and is in excess of the amount paid 'r1:! the "ity for said property, plus all L.I.D. assesenents,
including interest and othen charges against the same,
, NOW, 'IHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the said offer be accepted and that the City of Port Angeles sell the
said property at private sale to the said J. H. Wright foe the sum hereinabove set forth, subject to any
other valid liens against the same; that the City Attorney b~ instructed to prepare a quit claim deed
conveying said property to the purchaser, and that the City "lark of the City of Port Angeles be and he is
here'r1:! instructed to execute said quitclaim deed, and that the Mayor of the City of Port Angeles be am
he is hereby instructed tc countersign said quit claim deed, when the purchase price and all accrued
interest thereon has been paid in full.
It was moved by Commissioner Henson that the foregoing resolution be approved and adopted. Seconded by
Commissioner Masters. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared the motion Carried.
Under the head of New Business , the following report was read from the City Engineer:
May 51, 1959
To the Honorable Mayor and City Commission
Port ilingeJe s, Washington
Gentlemen:
I have this day inspected the houses on Lots 11 and 12, Block 292, Townsite of Port Angeles,
owned 'r1:! the City of Port Angeles, and find them to be in a state of decay and beyond repair.
I therefore recommend they be razed as a safety measure.

The Commission accepted the foregoing report and instructed the City Engineer to see that the above
described houses are torn down and all rubbish cleared from the lots.
The claim of Harry Newman for $39.00 for labor, storage, etc. on account of the fire of the L. R. Thompson
l11ilding at the corner of N. Laurel and Railroad Ave. came before the Commission. After due consideration
the tommission rejected said claim.
Under the head of Unfinished Business,-
The Commission took up the matter of awarding the contract for the balance of the pipe for the Water
Department, the bids having been opened and entered in Vol. 20, page 57 of this Journal. After due con-
.sideration it was moved by Commissioner Henson that the contract be awarded to the Marckmann & Willilllls
Qompany to furnish the balance of said pipe amounting to approximately 250 tons of Universal Cast lron
Pipe. Motion seconded 'r1:! COlIIIlissioner Masters. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared
the motion carried.
The Commission examined and allowed the following claims and ordered warrants drawn for same:
