I ,A motion was made by Councilman Schroeder, seconded by Councilman Wolfe and carried, to approve andl place on file, as received, minutes of the meeting of May 19, 1955. II A motion was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, to concur with the City Engineer's recommendation and award the bid on repairs to Enn~ Street between Front and I Columbia Streets to the low bidder Randall Kilmer Construction Company at $31,587.50, also included in bid is repairs to Marine Drive between "B" and "H" Streets. A motion was made by Councilman Bettger, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, to award the bid on the 59-kv transmission line to the low bidder Service Electric Company, Inc. at $31,250.00, subject to its meeting the specifications as checked by the Light Superintendent. A motlon was made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Bettger and carrled, to accept the bid of Tool Crlb Compames for the used backhoe listed at $3,500.00, as recommended by the Service II IGarage Superintendent. I A motion was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by CounciL~an Schroeder and carrled, to approve fori payment claims in amount of $23,255.34 and Payroll Transfers in amount of $34,696.35. The following ordiance was discussed and the changes noted. ORDINANCE NO. 1588 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles providing for regulations with reference to parking space requirements. A motion was made by Councilman Betteger, seconded by Councilman Schroeder and unanimously carried, (that the foregoing ordinance be adopted with the changes as. 'noted. Councilman Cornell, Chairman of the committee appointed to view and set minimum prices on city. owned lots, reported the committee's findings. A motion was made by Councilman Cornell, seconded by Councilman Wolfe and unanimously carried, to offer for sale Lots 11 thru 18, Block 441, minimum $3,205.27; Lots 11 thru 18, Block 451 at $887.39; Lots 18,thru 20, Block 415 at $1,200.00; Lots 11 thru 14, Block 440 at $1,600.00 and Lots 14 thru 20, Block 309 at $1,400.00 A motion was made by Councilman Schroeder, seconded by Councilman Wolfe and carried, to approve renewal of liquor licenses for Brickie's Place, Carlson's Grocery, Chinook Tavern, Marine Drive Cafe, Market Basket, Safeway Store No. 188 and West Dependable Super Market. I thel A motion was made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Bettger and carried, to proceed an' take the necessary steps to accomplish the Police Chief's request relative to increase in fines, and imprisonment schedule. (In accordance with Sec. 7,.paragraph 3, of R.C.W. 35.23.440 as amended in Laws Extraordinary Session 1965) The following Ordinance was read in full: ORDINANCE NO. 1589 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles annexing an area contiguous to the City. A motion was, made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Wolfe and unanimously carrled, to I adopt the foregoing ordinance as read, and set June 9, 1966 as the effective date of the annexatlonl A petition requesting electrical service south of Craig on McDougal Street was referred to the Cityl Manager, and a work session with the Light Superintendent was set up for June 9, 1966, at 7:30 p.m. at the City Light Garage relative to his suggestion to re-negotiate the electrical services agree-I ment with P.U.D., and to go over the R. W. Beck System Study. A motion was made by Councilman Cornell, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, to accept and place on file the Park Board minutes of May 25, 1955. A motion was made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Bettger and carried, to accept and place on file the Library Board minutes of May 25, 1956. I Ii A letter from P.U.D. concerning temporary summer water rates to their customers In certain areas I was read and discussed. The Mayor had received a Quit Claim Deed to the City from Crown Zellerbach for a portion of the blu f property (in "M" Street area, Block 228) to be used for public park purposes. A motion was made by! Councilman Cornell, seconded by Councilman Schroeder and carried, that a letter of appreciation be extended to Crown Zellerbach Corp. and that this property be designated as Crown Park. ,A motion was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carrled, to accept and 'iplace on file, the pre-report of the State Auditor, the ['ire Department Monthly Report and the System Study and Report on Light Department done by R. W. Beck. Other subjects of discussion were the water service above the Boulevard (there are easements yet to, be gotten) and the feasibility of setting up meetin~'with the people in this area to explain the need for and what would be involved in the easements; the bad condition of the railroad crossing at Marine Drive; the need for a "left turn" lane at 9th and Race Streets and the possibl'c' adjust- ment of sewer charges to metered customers when the water is not being discharged into the sewer.
