Roll call showed the following officers present: l1ayor Beetle, Commissioners Beam and Lind, Attorney t:onniff and Clerk Hawkins. The minutes of the previous session were read and approved. Under the head of Unfinished Business: ~ LEGAL PUBLICATIONS ~ ~ I ~ The City Clerk reported that pursuant to published call, the following bids forthe purchase of electrical equipnent for floodlights at the Athletic Play field were on file. Supply Company The bids were opened and referred to the City Engineer and Supt. of Utilities for cheoking. I The bids to furnish gravel for the manufacturing of mineral aggregate for Bituminous road surface treat- ment opened May 22, 1940, and entered on page 167 of this Journal, came up for consideration and it was I moved by Commisoioner Lind that the bid of Nichols & Owens be accepted and the contract awarded to them. Seconded by Commissioner Beam. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared the motion carried, Under the head of !llpplications for fuilding Permits and Licenses the following were granted: . Harold C. Ruthruff, Build House, ,Lot 14, Block 198, lownsite E. Worth" Addition to Dwelling, Nt of Lots 16 & 17, Block 119, Townsite R. F. Merritt, Repair Roof, etc., W! of Lot 5, Block 15, Townsite H. G. Holsman, Photograpoor's License, 1 day, June 5, 1940 2500.00 150.00 170.00 2.00 Police Judge, W. F. Phillips, reported 65 vases tried and $544.00 collected in fines for the month of May, 1940. Report ordered fiJB d. Under the head of New Business: The matter of fixing the date for opening and dedicating the new Port Angeles Athletic Playfield at Third and Race Streets came up for consideration and the Commission fixed the date for July 13, 1940. The opening and dedication to be under the auspices of the Port Angeles Naval Lodge of Elks.
