And was called to order by Mayor Beej;le. Roll call showed the following officers present: Mayor Beetle, Commissioners Beam and Lind"Attorney Conniff and Clerk Hawkins. The minutes of t he previous session were read and approved. Under the head of Applications for Building Permits and Licenses the following were granted: Bertha Macdonald, Build Shop, Lot 19, Block 38, Townsite Mrs. Florence Pickford, Build wall in store Building, Lot 7, Block 16, N. R. ~ith Subd. 1. A. Ranta, Build Garage, Lot 2, Block 19, N. R. "mith Subd. , Port Angeles Hotel, 26 Rooms I Gate City Store, Second Hand Store Windsor Hotel, 12 Rooms i Under the head of Introduction of Resolutions the following resolution.was introduced: RESOWTION 1500.00 140.00 200.00 26.00 15.00 12.00 WHEREAS, The City of Port Angeles is the owner of the following described real property, having acquired the same qy Treasurer's deed, dated June 12, 1942, under and qy virtue of the authority of Section 9595 of Remington's Revised Statutes, Chapter 143 of the Laws of 1929, page 365, to-wit: Lot Three (5) of Block '1hirty-four (34) of Noman R. Smith's Subdivision of the Townsite of Port Angeles, Washington, and WHEREAS, Elliott H. Woodruff has offered to purchase from the ~ty of Port Angeles the above described real prop:! rty for the sum of $25.00, payable as follows: 1\5.00 as a down payment and $10.00 on or before the 12th day of July, 1942, and $10.00 on or before the 12th day of each and every month thereafter, until paid in full, together with interest at the rate of 7% per annum on monthly balances and paid with the monthly installment, and WHEREII.s, the City Commission has viewed the said property and is of the opJ.nJ.on that the offer is fair value and is in excess of the amount paid by the City for said property, plus all L.I.D. assessments, including interest and othl!r charges against the same. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the said offer be accepted and that the City of Port Angeles sell the said property at private sale to the said Elliott H. Woodruff fcr the sum hereinabove set forth, subject to any valid liens against the same; that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a quit claim deed conveying said property to the purchaser, and that the City Clerk of the City of Port Angeles be, and he is hereby instru~ted to execute said quit claim deed, and that the Mayor of the City of Port Angeles be, and he is hereby instructed to countersign said quit claim deed when the purchase price and all accrued interest thereon has been paid in full. It was moved by Conur.issioner Beam that the foregoing resolution be approved and adopted. Seconded by Commissioner Lind. On roll call all memberB voted aye. The ~ayor declared the motion carried. Under the head of Introduction of Ordinances the following ordinance was introduced, read in full, and passed its first and second readings, AN ORDINANCE vacating that portion of the alley in Block Three Hundred Eighty-nine (389) of the Townsite of Port Angelee, Clallam County, Waahington, upon which Lots Six (6) to Ten (10) inclusive and Eleven (11) to Fifteen (15) inclusive,abut, said block being bounded by the following streets, 13th, 14th, Cherry and Valley. Under the head of New Business: The State Highway Department having orally petitioned the City Commission for permission to open up and operate a gravel pit in the N.W. ~ of S.E. ~, and that part of the N.E. t of S.E. ~ of N.E. t laying West of the Elwha River, all in Section 10, Township 30 North, Range 7 West W.M. And it appearing from the record that the foregoing property wae acquired by the City of Port Angeles as part of the Elwha River Water Extension Project for the purpose of preventing the operation of gravel pits or other disturbances of the surface of the land for the protection of the intake to the water line. Therefore it was moved by Mayor Beetle that the petition of the State Highway Department above referred to, be rejected. Seconded by Commissioner Lind. On roll call all members voted aye. REVOLVING FUND City Treasurer " n Under the head of New Business: Fred Owens appeared before the Commissiom and orally asked permission to ccnstruct a 12 foot roadway on the West side of Cherry Street, beginning at the North margin of Fisrt Street, running thence Ilorth to the alley between l"ill'st and Front Streets, thence West on said alley to the West line of Lot 5,Block 15, Townsite of Port Angeles. The said roadway to be used in the operation of the skating rink situated on Lot 5; Block 15, Townsite of Port Angeles. There being no objection the Commission granted Fred Owens permission to construct said roadway as requested above under the direction and supervision of the City Engineer.
