The City Connci 1 met in regular session at 7: 30 P.M. and 1<SS called to order by l~or Neer. Roll call of
officers showed the following pl"esent: Maivor Neer., Councilmen Smith, Sandison, Matthieu, l'iolfe, McFadden
and Maxfield, 11anager Vergeer, Attorney 140ffett am Clerk Law,. .

Matthieu and carried.
Under the head of unfinished business, bids to furnish a half ton truck for the ~ht Department were
received as foll<7lls:

It was moved by Councilman Smith that the offer by Schreiner Chevrolet. Co, be accepted, Seconded by
Councilman HcFadden and carri ed.
Two bids for City Legal Publications were submitted: The Olyn1pic Tribune: Five cents fer line for each
publication, except tabulated matter which is seven.cents fer line.for first publication onl,y.
Port A"I'leles Evening News: First publication twelve cents fer line, except tabulated matter which is
l6~ per line, Repeat pub:).icationa, all matter, 9i per line.
It was moved by Councilman Smith that bid be awarded to the Ol,ympic Tribune. !ieconied by Councilman Wolfe '
and carried.
The follOl'ling bids for relocation of a portion of Horse Creek pipeline were received:
Louis Elterich Co., Net Bid, $7l.547.92; Alternate Bid, Section 1, Corx:rete Pipe, $39,600.00;
Concrete fittings, $,$00.00;. Section 2, 1200 feet concrete onl,y, $14,1+00.00.

ft was lOOVed by Councilman Wolfe that bids be tabled until the next meeting. Seconied by Councilman
Matthieuand carried.
Courx: U received report from investigating Collllllittee pursuant to request that operation of chain saws in
seven hundred Block on East First Street be declared a nuisance and eliminated. Ron Buck advised that he
moved from Ninth and Lincoln -Streets to present location, thereby compJ;rj.ng with Zoning Ordinanc e. Also
that saws are operated at minimum time possible for proper checking. Mr. Howard also appeared in defense
of his business operation. Councilman Maxfield expressed opinion that. operators are trying to keep within
reason and legal rights, Councilmen Wolfe, McFadden and others were of the same opinion and questioned if
the City could declare a nuisance as the operation is wi thin legal rights. Attorney Moffett advised that
Council bas no satisfactory answer or'remedy as this is in business district. It was moved by Councilman
Wolfe that request be dismissed with suggestion that chail sa",; operats cooperate to eliminate all inter-
1 ference possible, Seconded by Councilman Sandison and carried.

Reports of City Treasurer, Fire Departuent ani Street Department were filed for Coun::il approval. It was

Claims paid ,June 8, 13, 15, and 19 were apprOlTed in total amount of $13,255.50. It was mOlTed by' Councilman
Matthieu that claims be approved as paid. Seaonded by Councilman j'Iolfe and carried.

Hotel, Harlatt '.s Food Store. It was moved by Councilman Smith that requests for renewals be approved.

[Hanager Vergeer advised that a garage at the Laurel Street Substation can be moved to Seconi and Valley
I Streets at reasonable cost and utilitzed to great advantage, recommending that move be authorized, It
