S. Mullen, Inc., Seattle, $177,133.00; Gaasland Construction Co., Bellingham, $180,300.00. The bids being much higher than the Architect's original e-stimate due to the increase in cost of labor and material, it was moved by Uayor Epperson that both bids be rejected. Seconded by Conunissioner Steele. All members voted Aye. Motion carried. 10 A.E., and was called to order by Mayor Epperson. The Bngineer reported 'that after checking protests filcd, the percentage opposed was 46.71% of cost of the improvement. It was moved by COllUnissioner Johnson that the resolution should not be approved or the district created. Seconded by Mayor Eppe rson. All voted Aye. Motion carried. hws. Harvey Johnson presented another petition signed by property mvners requesting a district for construction of concrete sidewalks on Pine Hill from Third Street south to Eighth Street. The petition was accepted, and the Engineer instructed to check the property to be included. " Another petition was presented by J. W. Lindsay for culvert, sewer, and fill from between First and Second Streets, which was referred to the Engineer to ascertain ; project. ,I I Lincoln to Chase Streets, 'I proportions and cost of Under the head of new business, a claim by Mae Howard for injuries received from a fall at First aud Laurel Streets was read and referred to the City Attorney. The report of Police Judge Taylor for the month of May, showing 150 court cases tried and $2,253.00 fines collected, was approved and ordered filed. Conunissioner Johnson read a letter from the Association of Washington Cities regardL~ an article appearing.II' in an issue of the Vlestern tity Y~gazine concerning youth recreational projects. The letter had been I referred to Mr. J. Glann and his reply was also read. ~ayor Epperson read a letter submitted qy Harold BrolVll, representing the Front Street property owners I regarding the location of contemplated Comfort Station. The letter was filed for further consideration. ' Under the head of introduction and reading of Ordi~2nces, the following was introduced and passed first and second reading: ORDINAKCE NO. 1185 .! AN ORDINAI,CE ORDERING AND ffiOVIDING for the improvement of Eighth Street from the easterly margin of E I !I' Street easterly to the west end o. f Turmva ter Creek bridge by the construction of concrete sidewalks on both .Ii sides of said street, excepting that property in front of which there now exists concrete sidewalks of such I ' construction and dimensions as to conform to the proposed improvements herein provided for; creating Local I .' Improvement District No. 150, and providing for the peyment of the costs and expenses thereof by a special II assessments on the property benefited, a ccording to law, and by the mode of "payment by bonds," all in ' , accordanoe with Improvement Resolution No. 150 of the City of Port Angeles, and in conformity .rith maps, plans and specifications prepared by the City Engineer and approved by the City Commission. It was moved by Commissioner Johnson that the foregoing Ordinance be passed first and second reading. Seconded by Mayor Epperson. All members voted Aye.
