U77_ ,The Commission met in regular session at 10:00 A.M., and was called to order by lJ.ayor <eeley. Officers present were Mayor Feeley, Commissioners Hobin son and l'aylor, Attorney Trumbull and Clerk Law. I ,Minutes of the previous session Viere read and approved. ~nder the head of applications for building permits and licenses, the following were granted: Building Pennits: '1150'~ o. S. It was the opinion of Attorney Trumbull that the City is not liable for damage to private property: from street grading, and the City is not authorized to spend City funds for repair of damage. I' I " ,A letter from fOO. S. Johnson was ,read, protesting the creation of a position designated as Superintendent of, ParkS, Playfield and Cemetery. Mr. Johnson also stated tbat operation of the departments was satisfactory and the position was not necessary. CommissioJ!Sr Taylor informed that Mr. Adams is relieving other officials 'of responsibilities and hiring Mr. Adams will prove an economic measure. I Under the head of new business, Lou Kiszak of the Port Angele s Transit Systelf, informed that he is dis- 'continuing \:us service on Sundays and Holidays as fares collected are not sufficient to pay salaries of ,drivers. The matter was referred to the City Attorney to detennine legality as per franchise. I ~ The Commission discussed a refusal by Vernon Bonny of !(oute TIVo to pay water rent. It was Mr. Bonny's ,I. Understanding that by verbal agreement he should receive water service in exchange for pipeline right-of- i'my aCross his property. I :' , NOTICE OF RlBLIC HEARIUJ OF PEl'ITION FOR VACATION OF ALlEY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN That a petition has been filed with the City Clerk of the City of Port Angeles, ~ashington, for the vacation of the hereinafter described alley and that the City COllJJlission of the City of Port Angeles, by resolution regularly adopted at its regular meeting on Wednesday, July 20, 1949, has fixed the time for the hearing and determination of said petition, wbicll public hearing will be held at the City Commissioners' Room in the City of l'ort A~eles, flashington, at the hour of 10 o'clock, a.m., on Wednesday, the 10th day of August, 1949. I One copy was posted at the front door of the Court House in Clallam County, Washington; one at the front door of the City Building at 140 West Front Street, Port Angeles; one in a conspicuous place on that certain portion of an alley which is sought to be vacated in the petition in the above entitled matter.
