The City Council met in regular session at 7 :50 p. M. arid was 6alled to order by Mayor Richardson. Other I
Officers present were: Councilmen Smith, Sandison, Maxfield, Thcrne, Randall and Caldwell, Manager Slankard

Seconded by Councilman Sandison and carried. Minutes approved as amended.

Under the head of unfinished business, Councilman Thorne reported far the appraisal committee concerning the
allle price of certain Lots as requested, Mi.ni.mrim being as fo11lms: Glen Davis, Lot 9, Block 242, $500.00. I
Robert R. Owens, Lots 11, 12, 15, Block 550, $600.00 each. It was moved by Councilman Caldwell that the I
report be accepted and call for bids published. Seconded by counci1roan Maxfield and carried.
The standard Oil Company heving requested easement for installation of an underground pipeline from their
Dock to the Plant, the Manager and Engineer investigated as directed, recommending that the easement be
granted subject to installation under supervision of the City. It was moved by CouncilJnan Smith thet
recommendation be approved and request granted. Seconded by Councilman Randall and carried.

Beno's Cabs, Inc., to Chinook Motels, Inc. It was moved by Councilman Caldwell that the transfer of Ol'mer- I
ship to Chinook Motels Inc., in the name of Harry lee, be approved. Seconded by Councilman Sandison and i

Valid protests opposing L. 1. D. No. 179 were submitted for record as follows: Written protests, $16,187 .5J
By petition, $150,999.65. Total $167,186.96, 40.62%. Amount required, $246,959.19, 60%. I
The City Employees Association requested in writing thet the City enter into new contract with the Clallam ,
, county Rlysicians Service corp. for medical service. It was moved by Councilman Randall that the Mayor he I
authorized to sign the contract, premiums to be considered during budget discussion. Seconded by councilJnanl
Sandison and carried.
I Chapnan Anj;enna Service having made application for franchise to install Television Coaxial Cable for T. V.
reception, it was moved by counci1roan Randall that the City Attorney assisted by the City Manager, prepare
a franchise that will completely protect the City and any citizen who pays for this installation, and whe~
, the franchise is prepered, the Council study it prior to acceptance. Motion seconded by Councilman Thorne
'and carried.
Under the head of new business, Clallam county Sewer District No. 1 asked for an easement to extend their
trunk sewer line on a portion of Eighth Street and Race street as per requirements of the City. It was
moved by Counci1roan Caldwell that permission be granted, the installAtion to be under supervision of the
Engineering and Street Depart~nts. Motion secomed by Councilman Maxfield and carried.
The following claims for damages were filed for approval: Cecil Ferguson, damage to car, $55.64. Oscar
stigen, broken windw, $65.52. It was moved by Councilman Smith that the claim for car damage be referred
to the Attorney and Insurance Company. SeCOnded by Councilman MaJd'ield and carried. It was 'moved by
Counci1roan Thome that the clam for broken window be referred to t.he Attorney for processing. Seconded by
Counci1roan Smith and carried.
Canadian Pacific Railway sign lease at Lincoln Street and Railroad Avenue having been cancelled, it was
moved by CounciJman Maxfield that $10.00 rental be refunded. Seconded by council1nan Caldwell and carried.
Departmental reports were approved as follows: Firej Light Billing, work and operating; Water work and
operating reports. It was moved by Councilman Randall that all reports be accepted and placed on file.
Seconded by CounciJmen Maxfield and carried.
Claims payable were approved in amounts of: General PUnds $7,235.78. Water 1'\lnd, $7,139.19. Light FUnd,
$6,481.21. It was mO'led by Councilman Thorne that all clIaims be approved and paid. Seconded by CouncilJnan'

It was moved by Counci.1Jnan Smith that payrolls for J~j General Funds $33,681.12; Water Fund, $9,006.48; I
Light Fund, $9,598.52, be approved. Seconded by GounciJman Thorne and carried.
The Mayor announced a special meeting "scheduledfor August lOth at 7:30 P. M. at which tme bids will be
considered for construction in L. 1. D. Nc. 179, Resurfacing First Street and proposal by the Chamber of
Commerce.
Councilman 'Caldwell questioned the P9licy of ticketing out of State cars parked on the streets at night.
Chief Kochanek answered that tickets are courtesy only. Mr Caldwell also aaked about disposition of a
proposed sign Ordinance. The Attorney reported some progress, but other Ordinances have interfered.
Mr. Caldwell then suggested adoption of an Ordinance requiring installation of curbs and gutters on newly
:iJnproved streets and requested that the Manager investigate and report.
The Manager also added that when driveways have been opened for a business or service station and the same
are abandoned, the curb and gutter should be replaced by the property owner.
By request of the Mayor, councilman Caldwell reported that the Ambulance service has been resolved. leo
Lamoureux is wOrKing part time at tha Hospital and IllUSt retain the Ambulance service.
Councilman Smith proposed that the Council consider including in the next budget, sufficient funds to extend'
approach to the rwnwater Bridge at Marine Drive. Also acquisition of property Tlest of the City Jail to I
Cherry Street. I
I Under the head of introduction and reading of Ordinances, the following was introduced and read in full:, 1
ORDINANCE NO. 1437 i
AN ORDINANCE establishing basic salaries for employees of the Port Angeles Fire Department, repealing all
Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict therewith and declaring an emergency.
It was moved by councilman Maxfield that the foregoing Ordinance be adopted as read. Seconded by CouncilJnan'
Thorne and unanilllously carried.
There being no further business, the meeting was declared adjourn
