,The City Council met in regular session at 7:30 P.M. Roll call of Off1cers revealed the following present: '
Mayor Mal'field, Councilmen Smith ,Richardson , Thorne, Randall, Caldwell and Haguewood; Manager Slankard!
Attorney Moffett and Clerk Law. ill'
It was moved by CounCIlman Caldwell that minutes of the previous meeting be approved and placed on file.

The Manager read a com muni~ati~n by Os~ar A. Sedergren, Act10g S~perintendent of OlympIC National Park. II

that the nJame of Race Street be changed to Hurricane Ridge Street and Mount Angeles Road to Hurrioane Ridge!i
Road. After due consideration it was suggested that the City install adequate signs designating the route to II'

One ciaim for damages was filed by Janet Z. Robison, David L. Robison and unborn child, in amount of I
$30,399.22, due to Mrs. Robison falling on First Street. I t was moved by Councilman Richardson that the J
'claim be referred to Attorney for action. Seconded by Councilman Caldwell and carried.
Minutes of the Planning Commission for August 15, 1961 were read. First considered was application by i
F. P. Donahue for variance from the Zoning Ordinance to permit construction of a one story seven unit apartm ,nt.
It was moved by Councilman Randall that the Councll concur with Planning Commission recommendation that II
, Mr~ Donahue be granted variance and ca-lIowed the construction. Seconded by Councilman Caldwell and carri'id.

Considered construction of addition to present Ubrary building. Addition on East side not feasible. The CitY.1
Manager reported that the City is in position to proceed with construction of addition to the West side, there~y
adequately enlarging and modernizing. The Planning Commission unanimously approved and recommended thel.,
proposition. It was moved by Councilman Caldwell that the Council heartlly concur with the Planning Com-
mission and approve the Library addi tion as recommended. Seconded by Councilman Richardson and carried. ,

be approved and placed on flle. Seconded by Councilman Smith and carried.
I Claims for payment were approved in amounts of: General Funds, $12,573.13. Water Fund, $7,902.83.
Light Fund, $51,942.69. Pipeline Fund, $184,390.66, this including City Treasurer $37.24, M. W. Slankar i
$20.28. H. N. Hanson $42.90, Martha Glas $1,000.00, these not having been included in the $183,290.24 Ii
as approved at the previous session. It was moved by Councilman Caldwell that all claims as enumerated
be approved. Seconded by Councilman Richard son and carried. '
Councilman Smith informed that complaints are numerous ,citing interruption of picnics in Lincoln Park by Kart

Councilman Thorne cited chip trucks not being properly covered, thereby increasing the care of lawns and par~~.

Councilman Randall inquired as to whether or not log trucks are required to use the truck route after logs are '1.1
unloaded or are they privileged to use any streets. The Police Chief cited the Ordinance as specifying loaded\

Water service to approXimately eighty consumers on the mainline having been interrupted by new line install-

for the past three months. The question was requested and all voted "Aye". Motion carried. I'
: Councilman Thorne asked if vacated alleys and streets in the annexed area can be reopened. The Attorney I

Under the head of introduction of Resolutions, the foll'owing was introduced and read:
RESOLUTioN NO. '11-61
A RESOLUTION of the City of Port Angeles providing for the acquisition from ClaUam County
of certain properties subject to local improvement assessments.
It was moved by Councilman Richardson that the foregoing Resolution be passed. Seconded by Councilm,m
Smith and carried.
There being no further business, the meeting was declared adjourned.
