The purpose of the meeting was to receive presentation of a private development proposal for a City Hall facility and to discuss Goals and Objectives for 1984 and beyond. II ROLL CALL Members Present: Mayor Duncan, Councilmen Gerberding, Haguewood, Hordyk, Polhamus, Quast Whidden. Members Absent: None. Staff Present: Manager Flodstrom, Attorney Knutson, P. Carr, M. Cleland, L. Cosens, L. Gl~nn, J. Pittis, R. Orton. public Present: L. Lee, K. Schermer, S. Fahnestock, A. Rud. Items III - VI were suspended. VII LEGISLATION 1. Presentation of Private Development Proposals for a City Hall Facility Manager Flodstrom introduced Kathy Dempsey of the development group to the Council. Members included Kathy and Larry Dempsey, Tim Haley, Johnie Key and Craig Whalley. Larry Dempsey presented the folloJing options: A. A site north of Front Street between the Thunderbird and Salty Dawg taverns. The structure would be a maximum of 16,500 square feet at a cost of approximately $1.2 million. B. Remodel current City Hall, which is 8,500 square feet, at a cost of approximately $550,000. C. Construction of combined City Hall-Convention Center on the Vern Burton Memorial Community Center site. The structure would be 13,000 square feet at a cost of appr6ximately $1 million. The Council tabled a decision until September 6, 1983, on the initiation of an advisory ballot on whether or not to construct a new City Hall, where it should be, and how it should be paid for. 2. Goals and Objectives for 1984 and Beyond Council further discussed tentative goals and objectives for 1984 and beyond.
