The City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Officers present were Mayor Willson, Council- men Maxfield, Thorne, Cornell, Bettger and Schroeder; Manager Herrman, Attorney Moffett and Clerk I McNeece. It was moved by Councilman Cornell, seconded by Councilman Thorne and carried, that minutes of the previous meeting be approved and placed on file. Action to be taken regarding delinquent library books was discussed. The City Attorney's office will contact the holders of these books. A motion was made by Councilman Cornell, seconded by Councilman Bettger and carried, that claims be approved for payment in amounts of: General Funds, $53,212.65; Water Fund, $7,594.24 - warrants No. 12519-12536'and Light Fund, $10B,817.15 - warrants No. 12B71-12903, a total of $169,624.05. I A motion was made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Schroeder and carried, that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be approved and the following people be allowed to retain their already established mobile homes, and that this approval be for the present occupants and trailers involved only: Mrs. Ethel R. Norton, 2607 So. Laurel, Mrs. Vivian B. Stephens, 1327 West 6th, Edward and Lilly Nichols, 1116 So. "D", Mr. !; Mrs. Albert S. Reagin, 916 E Front, Mr. & Mrs. Delmar E, Strean, 1938 West 5th, Mrs, Lillian Collidge, 1834 West 5th. A motion was made by Councilman Thorne, seconded by Councilman Schroeder and carried, to approve the recommendation of the Planning Commission and approve the application of Robert F. Fish of 181" East 5th St. for variance on a carport. A motion was made by Councilman Bettger, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, to approve the application of Mrs. Ruth Cays, 324 N. Race St. for a variance ,to construct a carport and tool shed within five feet of the west property line. A motion by Councilman Maxfield that the Planning Commission minutes of September 15, 1964, be accepted and placed on fi.le, was seconded by Councilman Thorne and carried. The following Ordinance was introduced and read in full: ORDINANCE NO. 1540 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles repealing Sections 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5.and 5.6 of the City Code with reference to barbershops and beauty culture establishments. by Councilman Schroeder, seconded by Councilman Cornell and carried, that the foregoirlg adopted as read. A motion was made by Councilman Bettger, seconded by Councilman Thorne and carried, that the Counc~, request the Planning Commission to adopt the policy of holding to the six feet set-back on building' construction as presently required on Fifth Street. A motion was made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Bettger and carried, that the City Manager, Donald D. Herrman, be granted permission to attend the City Manager's Conference in Chicago, Illinois on September 27-30, and to take a vacation from October 1 through October 12. In the absence of Mr. Herrman from September 24 to October 13, 1964, John B. Warder will be Acting City Manager. A motion was made by Councilman Bettger, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, that Monday, October 5, 1964 at 4:30 p.m. be set as date and time for fixing of the final budget for the year of 1965.
