~The City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Officers present were
Fen Maxfield, Thorne, Cornell, Wolfe, Bettger and Schroeder; Acting Manager
,and Clerk McNeece.
k motion by CounclLman Schroeder that minutes of the previous meetlng be approved
Iseconded by CounclLman Maxfield and carried.
A motlon was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by CounclLman Thorne and carried, that
percent ($4,321.48) of the cost of the Boulevard Improvement be paid to Randall Kilmer
Company as recommended by the City Engineer.

A motion was made by Councilman Cornell, seconded by Councilman Thorne and carried, that the claims
be approved for payment in amounts of: General Funds, $31,583.29; Water Fund, $7,162.31 - warrants
No. 12537-12549 and Light Fund, $140,862.74 - warrants No. 12905-12930, a total of $179,608.34.
The following Ordinance was introduced, and the City Attorney explained that it is principally an
~ordinance making SOme correction to Ordinance 1538:

AN ORDINANCE amending Sec. 17.12 of the City Code with reference to speed limits.
iA motion by Councilman Maxfield that this ordinance be adopted as revised by the City Attorney, was
Iseconded by Councilman Schroeder and carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Wolfe, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, that the
Library Board minutes of September 24, 1964, be approved and placed on file.
A motion was made by Councilman Thorne, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, to approve and
iplace on file the reports of Rosa Sander, Mina Saari, Marianne Hirsekorn, Robert Bruce, Ken Cameron
land Harry Kochanek on out of town trips.
A motion was made by Councilman Maxfield, seconded by Councilman Bettger and carried, to approve
and place on file the Light and Water Operating Statements and Balance Sheets, the Police Judge's
Report and the Monthly Budget Report of Receipts.

'The City Attorney informed that the response to letters sent out relative to delinquent library
books has been good. !
A motion was made by Councilman Schroeder, seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried, to approve I
the request of the Senior Class of Port Angeles High School and allow them to use the Service i'
Garage between October 3 and October 23 to construct the Homecoming floats; on week nights 7:00 p.ml
to 10:30 p.m. and on weekends till 12:00 midnight; with an adult in attendance and approval to be
canceled on any infraction of agreement.
A request from Blue Top Cab Co. for an additional taxi zone at Front and Laurel Sts. was tabled fori
a future meeting.
A motion was made by Councilman Wolfe and seconded by Councilman Thorne that the City employees be
granted a holiday on General Election day. After discussion, on called vote, Councilman Wolfe,
Thorne and Bettger voted "Aye", Councilmen Cornell, Schroeder and Maxfield voted "No". Mayor Will-
Ison voted "No", thus breaking the tie and defeating the motion.
IOther subjects of discussion were an invitation to the City Officials to attend a Civil Defense
Conference to be held here in Port Angeles on October 14th, the quarterly report from the Civil
Aeronautics Board, a public hearing in Olympia, October 28th on comprehensive Water Resource Study
in Puget Sound and adjacent waters, and a report on the progress of the new fire truck which is
tentatively SCheduled for delivery on October 15th.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned.
