~e Ci~y Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Officers present were: Mayor Maxfield, Counci1-
~en Smlth, Thorne, Haguewood, Cornell, Wolfe and Willson; Manager Slankard, Attorney Moffett and .,

the fifth paragraph in the minutes of Sept. 20th were corrected to: sell Lots 3, Block 34 instead II
of see Lot 3, Block 34. It was moved by Councilman Willson that the minutes be approved as corrected.
.Also minutes of the meeting of October 1st be approved. Seconded by Councilman Thorne and carried.
Ibwo bids for lighting and heating of the old part of the Municipal Library were received.
I Olympic Electric Co. - Heating, $2,150.00; Lighting, $2,900.00
, Angeles Electric Co. - Heating, $2,365.00; Lighting $1,525.00
After some discussion, it was moved by Councilman Willson that the bid of Angeles Electric Co. for
~ighting and heating, in total amount of $3,890.00, be accepted. Seconded by Councilman Thorne and
unanimously carried.

The following bids for floor covering in the old part of the Municipal Library were received:
Angeles MillvlOrk and Lumber Co., Robbins or Kentile solid vinyl 12" x 12" x 1/8"
thick, $2,875.00 - alternate .080 gauge, same as above $2,135.64.
Baker Lumber Co., 12" X 12" x 1/8" Homog. vinyl tile $2,800.00 plus sales tax
$112.00; 12" x 12" x 1/8" rubber tile, $2,661.36; 9"x9"xl/8" vinyl asbestos
tile, $1,875.00
t was moved by Councilman Wolfe that the bid of Baker Lumber Co. for solid vinyl tile, total
ff $2,912.00 be accepted. Seconded by Councilman Willson and unanimously carried.
,Councilman Wolfe, Chairman of the Committee appointed at the previous meeting to make study and
recommendation regarding the sale of Lot 3, Block 34, reported that the committee feels a minim~ I'"
pf $5,000.00 shoul? be set for the lot. .The obligations against the lot amount to $4,373.53. It.
was moved by Councllman Wolfe that the mlnlffium for Lot 3, Block 34, be set at $5,000.00, publicatlon
'subject to request by any interested prospective buyer. Seconded by Councilman Haguewood and unani1

ORDINANCE NO. 1493
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles amending Section 7.1 of the Code of
the City of Port Angeles with reference to a building code. I-
,It was moved by Councilman Willson that the foregoing Ordinance be adopted. Seconded by Councilman!

A decision on whether certain parking regulations should be changed was tabled for further study.
I'The Council are to be furnished copies of the most recent amendments to the Parking Zone Ordinance.
,Each Councilman having received a copy of the minutes of the Planning Commission of September 18th,
lit was moved by Councilman Wolfe that the minutes of the Planning Commission be accepted and placed
on file. Seconded by Councilman Smith and carried.

by Randall Kilmer Construction Co. on alley paving in L.I.D. No. 180 in amount of $8,000.00 be I
approved and paid. Seconded by Councilman Willson and unanimously carried. ~

Irnd paid. Seconded by Councilman Cornell and unanimously carried. III
~r. M. G. Poole, Town Planners, gave an interesting and informative talk regarding planning the
'Izones, proposed land uses, etc, for the City of Port. Angeles for 1972. A map mdicating each build~
ling in the City was shown. Mr. Poole requested that the Council either meet with himself and the
'IPlanning Commission for a work meeting, or set a time for a meeting ",ith just the Council. The
!Council will consult Planning Commission for their opinion concerning this.
lilt was moved by Councilman Smith that the FirecDepartment report for September be accepted and
placed on file. Seconded by Councilman Wolfe and carried.
!ClaimS for approval were presented in amounts of: General Fund, $12,991.13; Water Fund, $2,162.51-
warrants No. 11123 through 11132; Light Fund, $27,543.30 - warrants No. 11374 through 11405. It
:was moved by Councilman Willson that the claims in total amount of $42 ,696.94 be approved and paid.
,Seconded by Councilman Smith and unanimously carried.

The Clty Manager read a communication from the Llbrary Board stating that the Library Board would I
'llke to lnvite Mr. Arthur Fleming, Presldent of Oregon University, as principle speaker at the ded-l
lication program for the new City Library Bui~ding, and requesting a meeting wi~h the Co~ncil at ~he
I\Library on October 25, at 7: 30 p.m. to explaln some of the needs and problems mvolved ~n arranglng
for the dedication program, there being no allowance made ln the 1962 Bu?get for the ext~~6~lPftndi-1
tures involved. The request was accepted and those Councllmen who can wlll meet wlth the -Pfrr"']{ Boar
]October 25th, at 7:30 p.m.

AN ORDINANCE confirming the estimates of expenditures for the City of Port
Angeles for the year 1963 and affixing the tax levies for said year as here-
tofore made and levied by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles,
meeting and sitting for such purpose.
