U71'5 ~ :rhe Commission met in regular session at 10:00 A,J-..:. and was called to order by Acting Payor Steele. Roll ball revealed the following officers present: ActiJ~ ~ayor Steele, Commissioner Johnson, Attorney Wilson and Clerk LavT. I The minutes of the previous session were read and approved. NcDonald appearad before the Commission regarding garbage dump site, and advised he would prefer leasing but would sell for $3,500.00 and reserve right to use roadway. After discussion, it was moved blf Commissioner Steele that the City Attorney draw lease for five years at , $50.00 per month with option to purchase after first three months duration of lease, rent paid to apply on iJurchase price. Seconded by Commissioner Johnson.. All voted Aye. ,:otion carried. I : Henr;)" Davies spoke before the Commission regarding a ten foot strip of land paralleling Vle5t Third Street ' trestle. ~;r. Davies expressed the opinion of the Port Commission that the lli ty should pay one half of I 5i day stand-by charge by dredge company, or if the City would bid for the purchase of said strip the purchase price would apply on stand-by charges. Lean requested that bids be advertised for purchase by the light department of four unit sub-stations. Members present were: Mayor Epperson, Commissioners Steele and Johnson, Attorney Wilson and Clerk Law. I ,Fire Chief Wolverton reported the results of meeting with his department and that the budget items as decided by the Commission and himself were satisfactory. It was then moved by Corrmissioner Steele that the firemen'~ sal'lries be fixed as follow: Chief, $3,780.00; First Asst. Chief, $'1,360.00; Second Asst. Chief, $3,240.00'; I Master !:.echanic and Supt. of Fire Alarm, ;;3,180.00; 2 Captains @ $3,120.00; 2 Third Yaar '~remen @ $2,940.00i 3 Second Year Firemen @ 2,760.00. The motion was seconded by ~ayor Epperson. All members voted Aye. lAotion carried. I A motion was also made by Mayor Epperson that in view of the request of the personnel of the Fire Department:, ,that there be no election held on the Ordinance Initiative by petition, and the City Clerk is directed to 'notify the County Election Board to take no further steps in connection with the election on said Ordinance which was to be held November 5, 1946, and the action of the Commission certifying the O'rdinance to the Election Board by resolution adopted Sept. 25, 1946, is rescinded. The motion was seconded qy Commissioner Ste~le. JIll members voted Aye. 1'otion carried. It was moved blf Commissioner Steele that the amounts of $22,900.00 be stricken from the tudget items of the Light and Water FUnds. Seconded by l:ayor Eppsrson. All voted nye. j,iotion carried. I l:rhere being no further alterations or objections to the 1947 Preliminary Budget, it was adopted as fol107ls.
