Roll call of officers showed the follo'wing present: Councilmen ::?mith, Sandison, Matthieu, Wolfe, McFadden and Maxfield, Manager Vergeer, Attorney Severyns and Clerk Law. It was moved by Co~cilman Wolfe that minutes of the previous meeting be approved. Seconded by Councilman Matthieu and carried. Under the head of unfinished business, bids to furnish chain link fencing material for the Park Department were received as follows: Colorado Fuel and Iron Corpora. tionl $1,949.00 (No tax Indicated) Cyclone Fence Co.,.$1,900.00 plus ~63.27 sales tax . Manager Vergeer recorrrraended that bid by Cyclone Fence be accepted, amount purchased being subject 0 funds available in budget appropriation. It was moved by Councilman Matthieu that bid be accepted as recommended. Seconded by Councilmm SaniEon and carried. One bid was received from Everett L. Hassell for division of Suburban Lot 36, Townsite, in amount man McFadden that bid.be ~proved and accepted. carried. purghase of Lot 7, Block 3, Cains Sub- of ~131.30. It was moved by Council- Seconded by Councilman Maxfield and Council considered Lincoln Heights Sewer Improvenent District as proposed by L.I.D. No. 173. According to Bonding Attorney's opinion, reducing area is not legal action and would require new district and hearing, the reducing of original area being in- equitable as rcvised. It Was moved by Councilman McFadden to reinstate the District including original area. as proposed and proceed ~~th.improvement. Seconded by Councilman Sandison and carried. D~. E. B. Miller appeared regarding request for vacation of H Street South of Marine Drive. Mr. Vergeer read excerpts of Planning Corrrraission proceedings reco~~ending no vacation at this time. G. M. Morrish, operator of sound car, spoke regarding same, citing hours on streets, areas, amounts paid and donated. Mayor Neer confirmed desire of Council that sound cars be used with discretion and not becoma a nuisance. That Council is snticipating co- operation, thereby eliminating necessity for restrictions. The matter was referred to the City Attorney to ascertain possibility and advisability of requiring license or per- mit. Manager Vergeer informed of correspondence from State Highway Department regarding traffic survey at Fourth and Lincoln and First and Race, no final report having been received. I Council questioned progress of alley improvement as provided by L.I.D. No. 172. Mr. Vergeer informed that negotiations with contractor were not concluded, the Engineer having reduced quantities to lower the cost. It was moved by Councilman Wolfe to proceed with project according to re-estimate of cost. Seconded by Councilman McFadden and carried. Under the head of new business, Council accepted claim for damages and personal injury filed by Vernon G. Burton. It was moved by Councilman McFadden that claim be referred to proper department for investigation and report. Seconded by Counci]~an Smith and carried. The following requests were received for beverage licenses: Shamrock Tavern, Aggie's Broiler. It was moved by Councilman Sandison that applications be approved. Seconaed I by Councilman Matthieu and carried. Claims paid October 5, 8 and 9 were approved in total amount of $51,139.32. It was moved I by Councilman Matthieu that claims be approved as paid. Seconded by Councilman Maxfield and carried. , . Fixed estimate claims on Local Improvement Districts were approved as follows: L.I.D. NO. 167: Olympic Printery, Envelopes, $37.77; Olympic Tribune, Publications 4.70 L.I.D. NO. 171: Douglas H. Wallis, Mileage, Sept., $14.77; Hals Marshall-Wells Store, Crayon, $3.39; .H. ~N. Hansen, Stakes and hubs, $62.77.; Employment Security Dept., OASI 4.:i1i8' It was moved by Counc-ilman Smith that claims be approved and l<arrants issued in paYment of same. Seconded by Councilman 11atthieu and carried. Mayor Neer read correspondence from Snowden Chambers of Washington, D. C., informing of visitation and meeting to be held in the Coemcil Chamber November 1, at 3:00 P.M. to determine this City's program for Rosehheim exchange as compared to government sponsored program. The Manager was instructed to extend invitations to committees and organizat- ions, requesting that representatives attend the meeting. The financial report of City Treasurer, also the Street Department, were submitted for approval. It "las moved by Councilman Smith that reports be accepted and filed. It was moved by Councilman McFadden that the foregoing Resolution be adopted.
