HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 10/20/1937 ,.... 534 Proceedings of the City Commission of the City of Port Angeles, Washington October 20. 1937 193_ The Commission met in regular session at 10 A.M. and was called to order by Mayor Davis. Roll oal1 showed the folloVling .officers present: Mayor Davis, Commissioners Henson BIid Masters, Attorney Conniff and ~lerk Hawkins. The minutes of the previous session were read and approved. Under the head of Applications for Licenses the following were granted: Union Cafe, Restaurant Grac~ Smith, 1 Beauty Farlor Chair 15.00 1.00 I Under the head of Introduetion of Resolutions the following resolution was introduced: RESOLU1'ION WHEREAS, The City of Port Angeles is the owner of the following described property, having acquired the same by Treasurer's deed dated August 23, 1937, under and by virtue of the authority of Section 9393 of Remington's Revised Statutes, Chapter 143 of the Laws of 1929, page 365, to-wit: Lots One (1) and Two (2), :Block Two Hundred Twenty-eight (2281 of the Government Townsite of Port Angeles, Washington, and I VlliEREAS, Donald J. Smith has offered to purchase the above described real property from the City of Port Angeles for the sum of Six Hundred Thirty-nine and 38/100 ($639.38) Dollars, payable as follows: $100.38 down payment and $20.00 on the 15th day of I November, 1937, am $20.00 on the 15th day of eaeh and every month thereafter until paid . in full, with interest on all deferred payments at the rate of 7~ per annum, and VlliEREAS, The Qity Commission has viewed the said property and is of the opinion that the offer is fair value and is in excess of the amount paid by the said City for said property, plus all L. LD. assessments including all interest and other cha:mges against the same: NOW, THEREFOREi BE IT RESOLVED that the said offer be aocepted and that the 0ity of Port Angeles sell the said property at private sale to the said Donald J. Smith, for the sum hereinabove set forth, subject to any other valid liens against the saDe; that the City "-tto.rney be instructed to pre,gare a qui t-c~aim deed conveying said property to the purchaser, and that the ~ity ~lerk of the City of Port Angeles be, and he is hereby instructed to execute said quit-elaim deed, and that the Mayor of said City be, and he is hereby instructed to countersign said quit-claim deed, when the purchase priee and all accrued interest thereon has been paid in full. It was moved by Commissioner Henson that the foreg~ing resolution be adopted. Seconded by Commissioner Masters. On roll call all members voted aye. The D~yor declared the motion carried. I Under the head of New Business a petition was read, signed by Warren Spurrier, et als, asking for the improvement of the south end of "p" Street. The petition was referred to the City Engineer for checking. A petition, signed by Oscar Bystedt, et als, was read, asking that an ordinance be passed requiring that all business of auto wrecking companies be done inside of a board inclosure on all sides. The petition was ordered filed. Under the head of New Business, C. A. 1101 ver ton, vhief of the Fire Departmen t, reported that at a regular meeting of the Port Angeles Fire Department, William Watts was elected into membership of the Volunteer Fire Department. There being no objeotion, the Commission approved and confirmed the election of the said William Watts as a member of the Volunteer Fire Department subject to an examination by the Fire Departmen t Physician.
