HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 12/02/1974 ,... ,I .... 455 PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES; WASH. DECEMBER 2, 1974 The Council met in special session at 7:30 P.M. Officers present were Mayor Basom, Councilmen Haguewood, Hordyk, Lukey, Olson, Ross and Wray, Manager Puddy, Attorney Taylor and Clerk Parrish. The purpose of this meeting was to hold the Public Hearing and for fixing the final Budget forl975. I Paul E. Saxton, representing the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce and the Olympic Peninsula Travel Association, addressed the Council and requested the Council take under consideration the publicity fund request made by the Chamber of Commerce for Visitor and Tourist Promotion during 1975, Rather than eliminate this item from the 1975 Budget, Mr. Saxton recommended an increase of publicity funds and stated his position is supported by several community businesses which are not tourist related. Representatives from the League of Women Vqt~rs and the Community Deve100ment Division of the Chamber of Commerce, and private citizens stated their position supporting acquisition and preservation by the City of open spaces and greenbelts in our local area, and recommended funds be set aside to gradually acquire property which is available for this purpose, As there was no further participation from the audience, Mayor Basom declared the hearing closed at 8:05 P.M.
