HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 12/15/1943 r- 590 Proceedings of the City Commission of the City of Port Angeles, Washington December 15. 1943 19_ The Commission met inregular session at 10 A.M. and was called to order by ~yor Robinson. Roll call showed the following officers present: Mayor Robinson, Co~ssioners Beam and Masters, Attorney Johnston and Clerk Hawkins. The minutes of the previous session were read and approved. Under the head of Applications for Building Permits and Licenses the following were granted: James Dempsey, repair house, Lot 15, Block 85, Townsite Brock's Street Shop, Restaurant (8 months) Holmer' s Coffee .Shop,," "11 11 tl tl, 1 I.Iusic Machine 80.00 8.00 8.00 9.00 Under the head of Introduction of Resolutions the following resolutions were introduced: RESOLUTION WIlERE~S, The City of Port Angeles is the owner of the following described real property, having acquired the same by Treasurer's deed dated January 10, 1940, under and by virtue of the authority of Section 9393 of Remington's Revised statutes, Chapter 143 of the Laws of 1929, page 365, to-wit: A tract of land SO' "J: 140' in Suburban Lot Ten (10), Townsite of Port Angeles, more particularly described as follows: Commencing at a point SO feet West of the Southwest corner of First and Ennis Streets and extending Westerly along the South line of First Street, a distance of SO feet; Thence turning at right angles and extending southerly, a distance of 140' to an alley; Thence turning at right angles and extending easterly along the north line of said alley, a distance of SO feet; Thence turning at right angles northerly, adistance of 140' to point and place of beginning; All being SO' X 140' in Suburban Lot Ten (10), in the Townsite of Port Angeles, WHEREAS; H. H. Hankins has offered to p.ll'chase the above described real property from the City of Port Angeles for t he sum of $200.00, and WHEREAS, The City Commission has viewed the said property and is of the opinion tliat the offer is fair value and is in excess of the amoWlt paid by the City for said property, plus all L.LD. assessments, including interest and other charges against the same. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the said offer be accepted and that the City of Port Angeles sell the said property at private aale to the said H. H. Hankins for the sum hereinabove set forth: subject to any other valid liens against the same; that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a quit claim deed conveying said property to the purchaser, and that the .city Clerk of the City of Port Angeles be and he is hereby instructed to execute said quit claim deed, and that the Mayor of the City of Port Ange:les be and he is hereby instructed to countersign said quit claim deed. It was moved by Commissioner Beam that the foregoing rasolution be approved and adopted. Seconded by Commissioner Masters. On roll call all members voted ays. lne Mayor declared the motion carried. RESOJ.UTION WHEREAS, The City of Port Angeles is theowner of the following described real property,. having acquired the same b,y Treasurer's deed dated August 18, 1943, under and by virtue of the authority of Section 9393 of Remington's Revised Statutes, Chapter 143 of the Laws of 1929, page 565, to-wit: Lots One. T..o and Three (l,2,3), Block Three Hundred Seventy-one (371); Townsite of Port Angeles, Washington, and WHEREAS; George G. Mangano has offered to purchase the above described real property from the City of Port Mgeles for the sum of $131. 38, and WHEREAS, the City l:ollllllission has viewed the Baid property and is of the opinion that the offer is. fair value and that at this time it is to the best interest of the City that it should be accepted and the sale made. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the said offer be accepted and that the City of Port Angeles sell the said property at private sale to the said George G. Mangano for the sum hereinabove set forth, subject to any other valid liens against the same; that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a quit claim deed oonveying said property to the purchaser, and that the City tlerk of the City of Port Angeles be and he is hereby instructed to execute said quit claim deed, and that the Ilayer of the City of Port Angeles be and he is hereby instructed to countersign said quit claim deed. It was moved by Commissicner Beam that the foregoing resolution be approved and adopted. Seconded by Commissioner Masters. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared the motion carried. Under the head of New Business: Mrs. Dan Provo having resigned as a member of the Park Boord, Commissioner Masters submitted the name of Mrs. Fred Van Scoyoc for appointment as a member of the Park Board to fill the vacancy. It was moved by Mayor Robinson that the foregoing appointment be confirmed. Seconded by Commissioner Beam. The Mayor declared the motion carrie d.
