The Commission met in regular session at 10 A.M. and was called to order by Mayor Beetle, Roll call
showed the following officers present: Mayor Beetle, Commissioners Beam and Lind, Attorney Conniff and
Acting ClErk 0 'Day.
The minutes of the previous session were read and approved.
Under the head of Applications for Building Permits the following was granted:
Roy Crabb, Build woodshed, Lot 1, Block 102, 'townsite
200 .00
Under the head of Reading and Passage of Ordinances the following ordinance passed its third reading and
was fiqally adopted:
AN ORDINANCE setting forth an emergency affecting the public health and safety; requ1nng expenditures
unfore~eenj providing for the issuance of emergency werrantsj and declari~~ an emergency making the
ordina~ce immediately effective.
It was moved qy Com~issioner Beam that the foregoing ordinance be placed on its final reading and
adopted. Seconded by ~mmisioner Lind. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared the
motion carried.
Under the head of New Business the following Claim for Da~ages was read:
To The City Council 0:' the City of Port Angeles:
Please take notice, That Jean C. White who now resides at 308 West Fifth Street, Port Angeles, .ashington,
and who for six months prior to date of aocident has resided at 308 West Fifth Street, Port Angeles,
Washington, clai~s damages of and from the City of Port Angeles in the sum of 1225.00 for damages to her
1941 Oldsmobile Sedan auto~obile, sustained on the 23rd day of November, 1942, at 9:45 P.M. at or near
811 Caroline Street, Port Angeles, Washington, at which tL~e claimant was driving claimant's automobile
west in a dim-out area at the legal rate of speed of 15 miles per hour. Claimant came to a dead-end
street, which was not lighted and a post had been placed in the center of the street about two feet above
the ground. The car struck the post, bending the bumper, breaking the grill, fenders, steering systeQ
and steering wheel. The post had been negligently placed in front of a barricade and was unlighted, and
without any sort of reflector.
It was moved qy Commissioner Lind that the foregoing Claim for Damages be rejected. Seconded IT.>' Com-
missioner Beam. On roll call all members voted aye. The Mayor declared the motion carried.
The Co~ission exemined and allowed the following claims and ordered warrants drawD for same:

As shown by the above record, Vernon J. Robinson was elected Mayor and J. Lyle Beam and David A. Masters,
Sr. were elected Commissioners.
