The agenda should be arranged to best serve the needs and/or convenience of the Council and the public. The items of business for regular Council meetings may include the following: A. (1) LATE ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON THIS OR FUTURE AGENDAS as determined by City Manager or Council member – Manager Madsen added an Ordinance amending a Street Vacation as Agenda Item E.3. Deputy Mayor Wharton asked to add a discussion on climate change to the agenda; Mayor Braun had previously indicated such discussion should be deferred until the City has obtained findings from the Association of Washington Cities on the subject. (2) PUBLIC COMMENT This is an opportunity for members of the public to speak to the City Council about anything. To allow time for the Council to complete its legislative agenda, comments should be limited to no more than 5 minutes per person and a total of 15 minutes for this comment period. (These time periods may be lengthened or shortened at the th discretion of the Mayor.) EXECUTIVE SESSION (As needed and determined by City Attorney) – RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) potential litigation – 8:28 p.m. for 25 minutes with no action to follow O.ADJOURNMENT – 9:12 p.m. PUBLIC HEARINGS Public hearings are set by the City Council in order to meet legal requirements pertaining to matters such as land use permit NOTE: HEARING DEVICES AVAILABLE FOR THOSE NEEDING ASSISTANCE applications, proposed amendments to City land use regulations, zoning changes, and annexations. In addition, the City Council MAYOR TO DETERMINE TIME OF BREAK may set a public hearing in order to receive public input prior to making decisions which impact the citizens. Certain matters may February 5, 2008 Port Angeles City Council Meeting Page - 2 be controversial, and the City Council may choose to seek public opinion through the public hearing process.
