The agenda should be arranged to best serve the needs and/or convenience of the Council and the public. The items of business for regular Council meetings may include the following: A. CALL TO ORDER– REGULAR MEETING AT 6:00 P.M.- 6:03 P.M. B.ROLL CALL – Councilmember Rogers absent – PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Deputy Mayor Wharton PUBLIC CEREMONIES/PRESENTATIONS & EMPLOYEE RECOGNITIONS ---- 1. Mayor Braun along with Fire Chief McKeen and 1. Public Safety Awareness Week Proclamation ---- Police Chief Gallagher read proclamation and 2. Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce Update ---- presented it to Alan Barnard chair of the Public 3. Pacific Unity Partners Visit to Lincoln Park Safety Tribute Committee. 2. Russ Veenema, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director presented report. 3. Glenn Cutler presented report on the Pacific Unity Partners Visit to Lincoln Park. PUBLIC COMMENT. This is an opportunity for members of the public to speak to the City Council. To allow time for the Council to complete its legislative agenda, comments should be limited to no more than 5 minutes per person and a total of 15 minutes for this comment period. At the discretion of the Mayor, these times periods may be lengthened or shortened. Following any public comment, the Mayor may allow time, limited to five minutes, for response from City Councilmembers and/or City Staff. Shirley Nixon voiced her concern over the DOE recommendations being sent off before being reviewed by council. She also expressed interest in the NOAA proposal being available on the internet for the general public to view. C. CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS- None D. WORK SESSION D-1 1. Low Income Home Heating Energy Vendor Agreement L-45 M. INFORMATION Manager Myers reported on the Planning City Manager Reports: Commission minutes from 8-12-09; noted 36 1. Planning Commission Minutes of August 12, 2009 M-1 million dollar building permit processed for 2. Building Report for July 2009 M-7 Peninsula College; discussed possible regular meetings of Local Public Managers; commended Police Chief Gallagher for excellent presentation to the Chamber of Commerce; and mentioned the approval of the due diligence process with HarborWorks citing this as a major milestone completed. N. EXECUTIVE SESSION - None O.ADJOURNMENT- 10:07 P.M. PUBLIC HEARINGS Public hearings are set by the City Council in order to meet legal requirements. In addition, the City Council may set a public hearing in order to receive public input prior to making decisions which impact the citizens. Certain matters may be controversial, and the City Council may choose to seek public opinion through the public hearing process.
