The agenda should be arranged to best serve the needs and/or convenience of the Council and the public. The items of business for regular Council meetings may include the following: A. CALL TO ORDER - Regular Meeting (6:00 p.m.) – 6:05 p.m. B.ROLL CALL - All present PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE – Led by Deputy Mayor Williams PUBLIC CEREMONIES/PRESENTATIONS 1. (1) LATE ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON THIS OR FUTURE AGENDAS as determined by City Manager or Council member – Manager Madsen advised Council that Agenda Item K.2. may need to be split into two items, one portion regarding the Light Operations Interim Facility, and the other portion regarding a rejection of bids for remodeling of the facility. (2) PUBLIC COMMENT This is an opportunity for members of the public to speak to the City Council about anything. To allow time for the Council to complete its legislative agenda, comments should be limited to no more than 5 minutes per person and a total of 15 minutes for this comment period. (These time periods may be lengthened or shortened at the discretion of the Mayor.) Building Monthly Report – August M-9 Cutler reported on removal of bushes/replanting plan at Vern Burton Center, as well as breakdown of Ranney Well pump – Mayor Rogers issued reminder of AWC regional meeting in Port Angeles on September th 25 N. EXECUTIVE SESSION (As needed and determined by City Attorney) – 8:44 p.m. under authority of RCW 42.30.110(1)(b) and (c), real estate, and RCW 42.30.110(1)(i), potential litigation, with possible action to follow – reconvened into Open Session at 9:14 p.m., at which time action was taken to reject bid from Aldergrove Construction for remodeling of interim Light Operations facility – returned to Executive Session at 9:20 p.m. – no action followed O.ADJOURNMENT – 9:50 p.m. PUBLIC HEARINGS Public hearings are set by the City Council in order to meet legal requirements pertaining to matters such as land use permit applications, proposed amendments to City land use regulations, zoning changes, and annexations. In addition, the City Council may set a public hearing in order to receive public input prior to making decisions which impact the citizens. Certain matters may be controversial, and the City Council may choose to seek public opinion through the public hearing process.
