S - 82... - A RESOLUTION of the City of Port Angeles authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an agreement between the City of Port Angeles and the Washington State Department of Transportation for funding of Hazard Eliminations for the :8th Street bridges within the City. WHEREAS, the City of Port Angeles desires to eliminate the hazardous approaches to the bridges on 8th Street between "A" Street and Cherry Street and protect the 8th Street bridge piers on the Tumwater Truck Route. WHEREAS, funding for this project: is available through the Federal Aid Programs, administered by the Washington State Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to execute an agreement with the Department of Transportation in order to receive these monies; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES, as follows: Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute a properly completed and acceptable as to form agree- ment between the City of Port Angeles and the Washington State Department of Transportation for funding of Hazard Eliminations for the 8th Street bridges within the City of Port Angeles. Parrish, City Clerk APPROVED AS TO FORM: I.' ............... ,,,, :n . e e e February 3, 1982 MEMORANDUM To: City Manager/City (FASP Project) From: Public Works Department Subject: 8th Street Bridge Haza d The Public Works Department has been working with the Washington State Department of Transportation for approximately one year to develop a project to eliminate the hazards at the 8th Street bridges. The high hazard areas are the approaches to the bridges on 8th Street between Cherry and "A" Streets and the 8th Street bridge piers on the Tumwater Truck Route. The State has agreed that the best method for financing this project is through the FASP funding program. _ I In order to achieve that funding, it is necessary for the City to execute a City/County Agreement with the Department of Transportation. The total project involves $53,300 of which City funds are $5,330. A resolution will be provided at the City Council meeting which, if approved, will authorize the Mayor to execute the City and County Agreement and proceed with the project. KDR;cc
