' WHEREAS, Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961, as amended, provides for the making of, grants by the Housing and Home Finance Administrator to States and local public bodies to assist them in the acquisition of permanent interests in land for open-space uses " ;Iwhere such assistance is needed for carrying out a unified or offi- I: cia11y coordinated program for the provision and development of open-space land as part of the comprehensively planned development ,of the urban area; and r I I , I lation and green belt; and I :1 WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the i '!::::::t~:::i:: :::tH::S:::s::ds:::: ::n::::r::::::e:f:::::::i::_thatl' I' I cause of race, color, or national origin in the use of the land ac- I :1 quired and/or developed; and I I WHEREAS, the City of Port Angeles (Herein sometimes re- lferred to as "Applicant") desires to acquire fee simple title to II t' .cer a~n land known as County and private lands, which land is to be held and used for permanent open-space land for outdoor recre- WHEREAS, it is recognized that the contract for Federal i ; grant will impose certain obligations and responsibilities upon !the Applicant and will require among other II that families and individuals displaced as lspace land project will be relocated into tary housing, (2) compliance with Federal things (1) assurances a result of the open- decent, safe, and sani- labor standards, and (3) compliance with Federal requirements relating to equal employment ,opportunity; and 1 WHEREAS, it is estimated that the cost of acquiring said in- 'terests will be $45,450.00; now, therefore, I I I I I . . . . BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES as follows: Section 1. That an application be made to the Housing and , I Home Finance Agency for a grant in an amount authorized by Title IIVII of the Housing Act of 1961, as amended, which amount is pres- i ently estimated to be $22,725.00,. and that the Applicant will pay the balance of the cost from other funds available to it. I 1 II il cannot effectively be provided through the use of existing unde- i!Ve1oped or predominantly undeveloped land. Section 3. That the Mayor of the City of Port Angeles is Section 2. That the United States of America and the Hous- :1 ing and Home Finance Administrator be, and they hereby are, assured of full compliance by the Applicant with regulations of the Hous- ling and Home Finance Agency effectuating Title VI of the Civil lRights Act of 1964.
