.l\ RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Port Angeles
requesting the Washington State Department of Highways
to include in its next budget funds for construction of a
four lane highway east from the City limits across Morse
Creek, and for construction of necessary facilities needed
to connect U .S. Highway 101 to Front Street.
WHEREAS, 95% of the traffic into Port Angeles from the east has its
terminus the City of Port Angeles, and this traffic will be increasing due to the
stimulus to traffic given by'the Seattle World's Fair; and
WHEREAS, there is now only one two lane highway into the City from
the east, which creates dangerous driving conditions and safety hazards; and
WHEREAS, it is considered imperative that the City have more than
one two lane highway as a means of ingress and egress from the east; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES
that it requests the State Department of Highways to budget in its next budget suffi-
cient funds to nBke U.S. Highway 101 a four lrane Highway across Morse Creek
and into the City" raise the Highway level across Whites Creek, and to provide
for connection of East Front Street to U.S. Highway 101 to give additional ingress
and egress to the City.
