HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-94 RESOLUTION NO. 12-94 A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Port Angeles, Washington, amending the rules of the Civil Service Commission. WHEREAS, PAMC 2.22.041(B) (1) provides that the Civil Service Commission shall promulgate Civil Service Rules necessary to carry out and enforce the purpose of the Civil Service Ordinance and that such rules shall be subject to adoption by resolution of the City Council; and WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has promulgated Civil Service Rules, which the City Council adopted by Resolution 24-89 and has subsequently amended by other resolutions; and WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has proposed amending the Civil Service Ordinance and rules by excluding the Fire Chief from the classified civil service, by updating the list of positions in the classified civil service to reflect changes in job descriptions and titles, and by changing the composition of the interview board for promotional examinations for the Fire Captain and Medical Officer positions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles as follows: Section 1. The rules of the Port Angeles Civil Service Commission are hereby amended by revising Sections 6.03 Interview Board and 2.13 "Classified Position" to read as set forth in the attached Exhibit A. The Interview Board shall be composed of three (3) persons. One member shall be the Chief Examiner or his/her designee. The Chief Examiner shall appoint the other two ~2 ................ One me er shall be a lay person who shall be a citizen of Port Angeles. One member shall be a uniformed professional with experience and expertise with respect to the particular position for which the interviews are being conducted; PROVIDED that such uniformed professional member shall not be an employee of the City of Port Angeles. For promotional examinations for Fire Captain and Medical Officer, the Interview Board shall be two uniformed professionals, and a mid-manager from within the City of Port Angeles. The Chief Examiner will administer the examination process but will not be a rater in the interviews.
