HomeMy WebLinkAbout16-75 . . .~ RESOLUTION NO. /&- 75' A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Port Angeles declaring its intention to purchase the Roosevelt School property from Port Angeles School District No. 2l under the condit:i'Ons hereinafter set forth. WHEREAS, a Committee of the Board of Directors of Port Angeles School District No. 21 and a Committee of the City Council of the City of Port Angeles have been considering the purchase of the Roosevelt School property by the City from the District and both Committees 'have recommended the purchase under the conditions set forth below; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes that this purchase will be in the best interests of the people of the School Dis- trict and of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles that, contingent upon the 'successful passage of the School District bond issue on September l6, 1975, the City will purchase the school property subject to the follow- ing provisions: a. The sale of Roosevelt property to the City of Port Angeles for $377,000. The property description is as follows: Lots 4-15, Block 67, Taylors Subdivision, Townsite Port Angeles - together with the vacated alley Lots 1-6 l3"':18, Block 68, Taylors SubDivision, Townsite Port Angeles - together with the. vacated alley Lots l3-l8, Block 55, Taylors Subdivision, Townsite Port Angeles - together with vacated Third Street abutting thereon Lots 1 & 2, l7 & 18, Block l69, Townsite Port Angeles together with vacated alley Lots 4-l5, Block l70, Townsite Port Angeles together with vacated alley . . Vacated Chase Street north of the north line of Fourth Street to the south line of Third Street b. Terms - $100,000 payable upon the City and District 21 Board of Directors signing an agreement with the remainder payable on or before June 30, 1977. c. Should the City decide not to utilize the property for purposes of the City government and/or City- County Complex the School District has the option to purchase the property back at the original pur- chase price plus reasonable interest. ' d. Should the School District demolish the building and remove it from the premises the City shall pay the District the actual cost. e. Should the're be a delay in the District construction program, which is scheduled for completion September 5, 19 77, theci ty will allow additional time for completion at no cost. f. The School District also agrees to vacat€ parcels of the property should the City have the need for construction purposes.
