RESOLUTION NO. 19-08
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Port Angeles, Washington,
authorizing an increase in the regular property tax levy of 1 %, or $38,983 over
the highest lawful levy for 2008.
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 35A.33.135, the City Manager is required to provide the
ity Council with current information on estimates of revenues from all sources, together with
stimates submitted by the Finance Director, for consideration of the City's total anticipated
mancial requirements for the ensuing fiscal year, and the City Council is required to determine
d fix by ordinance the amount to be levied by ad valorem taxes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted public hearings on expected resources and
xpenses for 2009 and on the need for an increase in the regular property tax levy for ad valorem
axes for the fiscal year 2009; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, after such hearings and after duly considering relevant
vidence and factors, has determined that in order to discharge the expected expenses and
bligations of the City, there is a need for an increase in the regular property tax levy, in addition
o any amount resulting from the addition of new construction, improvements to property,
nnexations, and any increase in the value of state-assessed property and refunds made.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Port Angeles
hat:
Section 1.
After thoroughly reviewing the information relating to revenues and
xpenses for 2009, and public testimony on the same, the City Council finds that the City has a
ubstantial need to increase its 2009 tax levy to one hundred one percent of its 2008 levy as

llowed by Chapter 84.55 RCW.

Section 2.
In addition to any amount resulting from the addition of new construction,
improvements to property, annexations, any increase in the value of the state-assessed property,
and refunds made, an increase in the regular property tax levy is hereby authorized for the levy
to be collected in the 2009 tax year, in the amount of one percent, or $38,983 over the highest
lawful levy for 2008.
