A RESOLUTION of the City of Port Angeles,
Washington, provid1ng for the submission
to the qualified electors of the City at
the general election to be held therein
on November 8, 1983, of a proposition as
to whether or not the City should issue
its unlimited tax levy general obligation
bonds in the principal sum of $1.3 million
in order to provide funds to renovate and
remodel the Vern Burton Gymnasium as a
convention center.
WHEREAS, in order to provide the people of the City of
Port Angeles with modern convention center facilities and to
turther the public health and welfare of such people, it is
deemed necessary and advisable that the City renovate and remodel
the Vern Burton Gymnasium as a convention center, and to provide
the money therefor that it issue and sell its unlimited tax levy
general obligation bonds in the principal sum of $1.3 million;
and
WHEREAS, the Constitution and Laws of the State of
Washington provide that the question of whether such bonds may be
issued for such purposes must be submitted to the qualified
electors of the City for their ratification or rejection; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ANGELES, WASHINGTON, as follows:

Section 1. It is hereby found and declared that the
public health and welfare of the people of the City of Port
Angeles require that the City develop a convention center on
property now owned by the City at the Vern Burton Gymnasium site.
That for the purpose of provid1ng the money
necessary to acquire such capital improvements the City shall
issue and sell its unlimited tax levy general obligation bonds in
the principal sum of $1.3 million.

Said bonds shall mature in from two to twenty
years from the date of issue. Both principal and interest shall
be paid out of annual levies of taxes to be made upon all the
taxable property with1n the City with a maximum excess levy of
$.35 per one thousand dollars of assessed valuation. The exact
date, form, terms of maturity of said bonds shall be as hereafter
fixed by ordinance of the City.
Section 2. It is hereby found and declared that the
to1lowing ballot title is appropriate for the purposes of placing
the bond issue proposition on the ballot:

Shall the C1ty of Port Angeles, Washlngton, for
the purpose of providing funds to develop a
convention center within the City at the Vern
Burton Gymnasium site, issue its general
obligation bonds in the principal sum of $1.3
million, to mature in from two to twenty years
from date of issue, and to be paid, both principal
and interest, out of annual tax levies to be made
upon all of the taxable property within the City
with a maximum excess levy of $.35 per one
thousand dollars of assessed valuation?

of elections is hereby requested to place said proposition on the
November 8, 1983, election ballot and to submit to the qualified
electors of the City the proposition hereinabove set forth.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles,
Washington, at a regular meeting of said Council held this 20th
day of September, 1983.
