HomeMy WebLinkAbout23-95 RESOLUTION NO. 23-95 A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Port Angeles, Washington, amending the rules of the Civil Service Commission relating to the preference credit for Port Angeles volunteer firefighters on entry level firefighter examinations. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 35-91 adopted a new Civil Service ~ule allowing a preference credit for Port Angeles volunteer firefighters of up to five percent to be added to the combined score for written, oral and physical civil service examinations for entry level firefighter positions; and WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has recommended that the rule be amended to apply the five percent maximum credit only to the written portion of the examination, which would be more consistent with the intent of the rule; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles as follows: The rules of the Port Angeles Civil Service Commission are hereby amended by amendin~ Rule 6.055 Volunteer Preference Credit as set forth in the attached Exhibit A. An applicant for an entry level firefighter position shall be eligible for a credit of one-half percent for each six months of experience as a volunteer firefighter up to a maximum of 5% provided that the following criteria are met: 1. The applicant shall have been appointed to the Port Angeles Volunteer Fire Department following an open, competitive, non- discriminatory selection process consistent with the rules of the Civil Service Commission and Chapter 2.22 PAMC. 2. The applicant shall have successfully completed the course of training established for volunteer firefighters by the Port Angeles Fire Department. ~^~~"~"-~4^~ ~ ~^ ^, 4~4~4, 4~..
