HomeMy WebLinkAbout39-92 RESOLUTION NO. 39-92 A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Port Angeles, Washington, amending the City Personnel Policy and Procedures for City employees. WHEREAS, the City of Port Angeles desires to update and modify its policy affecting smoking in the work place; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES as follows: Section 1. The City of Port Angeles Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual is hereby amended by revising Section 2.06, Smoking in the Work Place, as on the attached Exhibit "A". PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 20th day of October, 1992. Bec~y-j~Up~n, City ~er~ [Craig D~ K~utson, City AV~torney HR.725 Exhibit "A" Section 2.06, Smoking in the Work Place Smoking is prohibited in City Hall and other public work locations. Smoking is permitted only in areas designated as smoking areas, as determined by the Department Head. This policy extends to all work areas including public areas, lobbies, restrooms, stairways, elevators, employee lounges, and hallways. Smoking areas may be designated by the Department Heads which are consistent with the intent of this policy. Smoking in City vehicles used for local and out-of-town travel as "pool cars" is prohibited. Smoking may be permitted in other City vehicles or equipment, provided the smoker first checks with all other occupants in the vehicle prior to smoking. If any occupant objects to another person smoking while present in the vehicle, then smoking is prohibited. It shall be the responsibility of the smoker to discontinue smoking in the vehicle while the objecting person is present. Failure to comply with this policy is grounds for disciplinary action.
